About Me

I am a 26 year old fiddle player from Lurgan, County Armagh. Coming from an extremely musical family, from an early age I was influenced by some of the countries top musicians who performed at my parents bar,‘The Ceili House’. I began playing fiddle and flute at the age of twelve and was taught by Lurgan fiddle player Séamus McNiece as well as the master flute player, Séamus Tansey. I have been greatly influenced by northern fiddle players such as Cathal Hayden and Tommy Peoples, not to mention many Scottish musicians.

In recent years I have performed all over North America, Europe and China. I've also had the opportunity to play support to some of my favourite musicians, including Flook, Kate Rusby and the late, great Mícheál Ó Domhnaill. Played fiddle with Gráda, filling in for the fiddler Colin Farrell. Among many gigs here and there...I can be seen playing around Belfast's vibrant session scene.

Also performed on many TV and Radio programmes including Geantraí, BBC's Blas Ceoil, Deis Roc and ATL acoustic live sessions both as a trad musician and with the band Captain Kennedy.

Captain Kennedy serve up a blend of bluesy, harmony filled, semi-acoustic rock and roll. Check out www.myspace.com/captainkennedy

A fluent Irish speaker and I have worked as a freelance boom operator and sound assistant. Worked on "50 Dead Men Walking" in 07... which featured the great Sir Ben Kingsley. Other credits include "Seacht" (TG4) "Ros na Rún" (TG4) and Messiah V (BBC). Now working with An Chiste Craoltoireachta Gaeilge (Irish Language Broadcast Fund).

Mainly northern fiddlers like Cathal Hayden, Tommy Peoples, Brendan McGlinchey, Shane McAleer and Ciaran Tourish. Other influences include Mr Bulmers Original, Séamus Tansey, Barry Kerr (my big bruv), Paul Bradley and Donal O Connor.

Gordon Duncan (I love Scottish pipes...Gordon, the legend). Joni Mitchell, Old Crow Medicine Show, the monks of Buckfast Abbey, Darren Maloney, Colin Farrell and Ephemera! Kevin Burke, John Mc Kenna, Desi Wilkinson, my buddys in Belfast (Nipper, Darragh Murphy & Ryan O Donnell), There are seriously too many people that have influenced me to mention. Every musician is great in their own right! I'm aslo a big fan of singing (although I don't sing myself), Irish, Scottish and English folk. Dick Gaughan is the man!
