The Coachlight Woods out now!

About Me

promo vid by asher sandberg lewis. full length music video coming soon.
Band members Kevin Davis and drummer Jesse Robert W. met in Portland, OR in 2006. Before long, they found themselves recording an album together in the vast outskirts of an otherwordly Utah desert, holed up with nothing but some modest gear and a genuine fear of conspiracy theorists. You can hear the result in The Coachlight Woods, Glowworm's debut album releasing March 4th, 2008.
Kevin and Jesse have also both shared membership in Pacific UV , who released a new LP on WARM recordings in February.

&nbsp "...a solo project bending the lines between indie rock and electronic/ambient... doesn't hesitate as it dazzles the listener with stunning guitar lines and shimmering electronic support...into your ears and hearts quicker than you'll know what hit you."
“With their debut album, Kevin Davis and Jesse Robert W. fuse together post-rock guitar lines with shimmering electronic ambience that echoes the barren landscape that enveloped the album’s creation.”
- the Silent Ballet.com
&nbsp “The Coachlight Woods is what it is would sound like if Mogwai and Pelican’s tour buses collided in a desert, and they recorded an album over 30 days and 30 nights before being rescued.”
- Earz Magazine
&nbsp “On its debut full-length The Coachlight Woods, Portland-based chamber rock duo Glowworm offers nine elegantly-crafted excursions that segue effortlessly from guitar-fueled shredding… to moments of tranquil sweetness… The album opens with the pretty “Periphescence” whose opening organ chord sequence may be a nod to Philip Glass, so reminiscent is it of Einstein On the Beach. However, the placid glockenspiel, piano, and pealing guitar lines that ensue establish Glowworm as its own band, and when the drums kickstart the aggressive coda, it's clear that The Coachlight Woods has more in common with Mogwai and its ilk than Glass…”

&nbsp “Rainy days appeared in front of my eyes. Unknown paths too, leading to the distant places I’ll walk in the future. And the music kept on traveling, in slow motion, showing me some landscapes of immense beauty and color. I step out of the bed, the cello and the drums still sounding in my head, and the rain falling peacefully though the windows. Today was the perfect post-rock day, and this album made it possible.”
5/5 "fantasmical"(highest rating)
- Kiln Magazine
&nbsp “With this debut, Glowworm add a worthy entry to post-rock’s already bulging canon. Taking cues from outfits like Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky, the record’s bread and butter are melody and tension. In creating tension, The Coachlight Woods distinguishes itself by virtue of its details. Front and centre among these details are the contributions of string player Tony Rogers, whose play ..o and viola is concise, versatile and intuitive. Just as important are the album’s ample ambient flourishes, which provide much-needed breathing room in the midst of the vigorous instrumental pomp that defines the record. On an album filled with as many exclamations as this one, these counterpoints are vital. Without them, the result would have been a considerably more tiring and predictable listen. Instead, this Portland, OR duo have created an engaging record built on clever melodic interactions that clearly define their sound.”
- Exclaim!
&nbsp "The last two and a half minutes of closer "Glow Scraped from the Earth" elevate the album to badassness, drifting off and out with calmly, perfectly distorted guitar and some gorgeous grit."
- Flagpole
&nbsp “If there was ever a sonic documentation of solidarity in the desert, The Coachlight Woods is it… It draws on so much of its surrounding environment: the space, the desert winds, the withdrawal from society. Glowworm excel in minimal, droning electronica… The pull and push of the song(s) echoes the feelings throughout an album that can only be described as a beautiful and accomplished debut offering.”
