RELAMPAGO, The Invincible Man

148th district-court Judge Margarito C. Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas was very well-known comic book enthusiast. Owning and operating his own comic book shop, COLLECTORS BOOKSTORE, the Judge first conceived the idea of a Mexican-American superhero after attending a local comic convention. Debuting his creation in a self-published format in 1977, RELAMPAGO became the first Mexican-American superhero in comics.The stories emphasized on Marcos Zapata, a former petty-thief, who was fatally shot after an attempted robbery. After staging a getaway, Marcos succumbed to his wounds and died on the doorstep of La Bruja Mendoza. Mendoza, a master of black magic, brought Marcos back to life with superhuman abilities. Grateful to the witch, Marcos began to take orders from Mendoza to steal. Eventually Marcos grew tired of doing her bidding and decided to leave her control. Mendoza herself was later killed by thieves intent on stealing her ill-gotten goods. In her final moments of life, Marcos pleaded to know whether or not his powers were permanent or temporary, but Mendoza's pain proved too great to bear and she passed on before she could give a complete answer.
