KAI WOLFF : guitars, keys, electronics, turntablesborn 1967, plays, improvises and composes music since fourteen. He studied piano at Folkwang/Essen and Jazzguitar and Composition at Sweelinck Conservatory/Amsterdam. Since 1990 he has been living in Berlin and keeps improvising and producing music in countless projects... He has been touring regularly throughout Europe with the Dutch group " NINSK " with Tony Buck..s Hardcore/Improv Project " astroPERIL " and the Japanese/German/Canadian Ambientformation " TON ". Always fascinated by electronic music he starts using samplers and computers to create music...drawn into a whole new world with endless and exiting possibilities. Interested in combining the digital world with an rather analog approach by using analog mix boards and their fascinating lofi/feedback possibilities he starts the Projekt " BOX of TOADS " with Stevko Busch and Norbert Scholly in 2002. ( 1st price in the category of electronic improvisation at JAZZART musical awards in 2002.)He has composed and performed music for a diverse array of international Dance/ Theatre Projects and contributed tracks to several short and feature movies.At home in the extremly vivid and inspiring Berlin electronic music scene he starts working on turntables in 1999...developing his unique minimalistic style as KAI MAAN... Always interested in droping a huge variety of sounds into the haunting and hypnotizing deepness of his funky minimal techno...which is the groovy heart of his sets. He is constantly seeking for new ideas to improve his music...strange glitch and mysterious textures, bouncy dub beats and swirling echo sounds naturally come along in the playfull flow of his performances.He likes to twist and bend sound into a fresh and fruity mix that keeps the audience on their toes while never getting too experimental as to alienate the dancefloor crowd.
