George T. Lignos born in ATHENS 29th October, 1983.
My father as a pianist started teaching me the piano...
But the first time that I really felt love for music was when one Thursday night Mr. George Kontrafouris (the storyteller) performed at Nakas Concert Hall. Since then I gave up my classical piano lessons and turned my view to Jazz.I studied with some of the best music teachers in Greece and everyone gave me something from their selves. To name few (Myrto Vogiatzoglou, Christos Mastrogiannidis, Aggelos Tsourelis, Asteris Papastamatakis, Panos Dimakis & Vagelis Stefanopoulos...).
After several years, "electricity" became part of my life and my character. This was when Miles&Hancock(with heandhunters) took me to places out of the normal conservative world. At the same time my first steps in ROck was already on the way.Deep Purple was the band that really destroyed my school years...: p
Mr. Jon Lord led my heart to the Hammond organ, as a result
Fireball, Machine Head, Burn and Storm bringer becames my favourite records ! And I mean my favourite records...and the only one for at least 3 years!!!
Since then my "music" ears started diving to new sounds 4me like ( Europe, Yes, Whitesnake, The Who, AC.DC, Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Police, Firehouse, Talisman, Toto, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, Tool, Porcupine tree, Queen, Skid row, Van HALEN, VAN HALEN, HAN HALEN, and of course Dream Theater, Symphony X, Stratovarius, and the ultimate pop hero---> Michael Jackson. {Somewhere in the gap Greek rock artists like Xilina Spathia, Trypes, and Socrates & ( Sakis Rouvas :0 ) remind me that something else was interested here except "Greek" music & the "bouzoukia" philosophy}.These Bands and their Sound raised me and built my personal music character, but my other half was still stuck to jazz and the sound of (Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Jimmy Smith, Dr.Lonnie Smith, Miles Davis, Tony Monaco, Crusaders, Head hunters, Maceo Parker, Akimbo, Medeski Martin & Wood, Scofield, and artists like John Cage, Stockhausen, Eric Satie, Ioannis Xenakis, my favourite romantic composer F.Chopin, & so many others...)
ALL these kept me "alive" and awake, so I can create my sound and my music character. Still I have sooo many things on mind, things that I want to improve...So far I have graduated from the American College of Greece(music department) & also my diplomas on theory, harmony & counterpoint. Fugue and trumpet are still in progress and I am about to complete by the end of this year .Right now I am experimenting with synths , vintage effects, analogue keyboards, and how to create new sounds, and create music art... - but i still got the blues 4 u...!!! ...This is my life.- A continuous trip to music, my way to keep my mind together and trying to keep balance between Hard Rock - nu Jazz - Funk - Electro - Metal ... my way to freedom. That's all folks my mind can think any more...: pPlease watch yourself... " @-has
