The overall goal of this group is to create opportunities for artist to showcase their work. I have seen an overwhelming amount of art "SIT" in someones basement, garage, @ home studio and not ever get the exposure it truly deserved. The reasons why? They are ongoing! I have always been a resourceful person. Having a womens clothing store (Shop City Chicago), I know how important a good marketing/sales plan is to get merchandise sold. I realized that THIS aspect is what most artist are missing. The opportunity to showcase their work!Unfortunately I am not an artist. I have a passion for the arts and admire artists dedication to their work. I am a business manager/owner and event promoter. Through the Society, I create opportunities for artist to showcase and establish referal networks that ultimately result in long term clients and sales of their work.Here are some commonly asked questions:1. Is their a fee to be in the Chicago Art Society?THE ANSWER: THEIR IS NO MONTHLY FEE. WE ARE LOOKING FOR OUTGOING ENERGETIC ARTISTS THAT ARE MOTIVATED TO SELL THEIR PAINTINGS AT OUR EVENTS.2. What kind of artist are you looking for?THE ANSWER: ALL KINDS OF ARTIST. THEIR IS NO LIMIT TO WHERE CREATIVITY CAN TAKE YOU. WE ASK THAT YOUR WORK BE FREE OF NUDITY AND OBSCENE AND/OR OFFENSIVE NATURE. SOME ART EVENTS WILL REQUIRE NUDE WORK. OBVIOUSLY...THAN ITS OK :-)3. Do you charge commissions on each painting that I sell?THE ANSWER: WE DO NOT CHARGE A FEE ON ANY OF THE WORK THAT YOU SELL AT THE EVENTS.4. What do artist have to do to become a memeber?THE ANSWER: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BECOME A MEMBER. YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT THREE PIECES OF WORK TO [email protected]. INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME,PHONE AND EMAIL ADDRESS.5. What do artist have to do to participate in a show?THE ANSWER: ONCE YOU HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT BEING A MEMBER,YOU WILL GET CONFIRMATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP VIA EMAIL AND YOU WILL BE ADDED TO THE INVITATION LIST. ONCE YOU ARE PUT ON THIS LIST YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INVITATION TO SHOWCASE AT EVERY EVENT THAT IS POSTED. ARTIST ARE SELECTED IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEIR RESPONSE IS RECEIVED. FOR INSTANCE, IF THE EVENT CALLS FOR 10 ARTIST. THE INVITATION WILL GO OUT VIA EMAIL EXPLAINING WHAT THE EVENT CONSIST OF, THE TARGET MARKET AND WHAT THE REQUIRMENTS ARE.
