About Me
I am Sara Rodgers, formerly Sara Fires. I was born in Grand Rapids, MI and raised in a small town called Byron Center, MI. I have a sister who is two years younger than me named Kimberly and two half siblings who are 10ish years older. My parents divorced when I was 12, and I lived full time with my mom until I graduated in 2000 and went to Western Michigan University. My original plan was to become a middle school teacher, but that fell through and I decided to pursue a degree in English with a minor in history with a hope of becoming a children's librarian. I currently have no clue what I want to do, because Library Science is another three years of school and I don't think I'd make it in the cataloging classes. I'm leaning towards web design but I don't really know anything about it. I'm thinking of taking a basics class soon to see how that goes... I also plan on taking a few .. classes to actually finish my undergrad in the next year.In college I started dating Mike Rodgers our sophomore year in college. we met the very first week we both started at Western Michigan University. My friend, Amber Smith, had a roomate, Laura, who had a friend Mike, and we all went to a movie together. The following semester,we had a Shakespeare class together. we didn't really "meet" until fall of 2001 when we both lived in Zimmerman hall two doors away. me, being the clumsy oaf I am, tripped over my vacuum cleaner cord in my room and stumbled down the hall laughing hysterically, where I was confronted by the boys a suite over from ours. At first I was friends with everyone, but things happened and by Thanksgiving Mike and I were dating. In September, 2002 he proposed while we were doing homework because he was too excited to plan anything else :) We originally planned for a May 2004 wedding, but decided we wanted to live together before hand and to avoid.. parental issues, we changed the wedding date to August 2003 instead. The wedding was fun, the honeymoon was at Disney World (I'm a huge fan of the Mouse, thanks)We were off to a rough start, but in July 2004 we moved to Chapel Hill, NC so Mike could start law school in a year. It was hard to leave our families behind but we just love it down here!! I got a job working at the Interlibrary loan borrowing department of the Davis Library at the University of North Carolina. Mike does not work but goes to law school here at UNC and I am his sugar momma. We bought a house in Mebane, NC, about 20 minutes northwest of Chapel Hill. Mike has recently graduated and I've dropped my work schedule down so we can have one last summer together as a family before Mike gets a job and works all the time.We live in relative peace with our little zoo. We have a 6-year-old grey tabby named Zoey, a 5-year-old Boston terrier named Lucy, a doxie named Oscar, and a 3 year old cat named Crookshanks. and We both LOVE animals and plan to adopt more when we stop doing major repairs on the house.We would like to have a large family someday. We want to have a few of our own (God willing) and adopt a few children as well. Children all over need good homes! We are glad to welcome our newest edition ,Landon Patrick Rodgers to our family on January 25, 2007. He is the most beautiful baby in all of the world.Politically I generally lead a zig-zagged path, but lean conservatively on alot of issues. This does NOT mean that I'm 100% for or against any party whatsoever. PLenty of issues I feel strongly about still end up being in the middle.I originally wanted to move back home after Mike graduates, but now I'm not so sure! I think that living in NC is so great! I would also like to live in FLorida. I really like the warm weather and hot summers better than winters full of snow. I also wouldn't mind living by Disney World :)Living in: Mebane, NC (in my very first house I've purchased!!!) Husband: Mike, married since august 23, 2003.
