About Me

I'm an Italian living in England. It is all my husband's fault (something I say a lot!)as he's from Plymouth. Ours was a holiday romance, we met in Greece in a hot summer and the rest is history. Needless to say, the language barrier helped our relationship a fair bit: it is so much better when you don't understand each other!! His daughter (20) is beautiful and intelligent, I just wish she realised it, so that she can have the fulfilling life she deserves. Our son (11) was born premature (750 gr.), but is growing into a handsome boy. He has been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and you have to be careful what you say to him as he is very literal. For example, a while back he had a go at me drinking a milkshake in the car: "You can't drink and drive !!!", he kept telling me... I'm in remission from breast cancer, last year it has been a tough one: I went from looking like cousin It to look like uncle Fester, but things are improving daily and I try to stay positive. After all laughter is the best medicine, and my motto has always been 'In the long run, the pessimist might be right, but the optimist has a better time on the trip'. I'm a very lucky woman, with a lovely family(motorbike and computer mad) and fantastic friends that mean the world to me.

Arthur the rotty.

Our rottweiler, Arthur, will be 11 years old in August. We got him for my hubby's birthday and arrived home in a shoe box (the dog, not the husband!). It is difficult to believe it looking at him now,...

Has it fallen yet?

We are a family of hoarders, there is no question about it. Every time I manage to clear some space, some more junk fills it up in no time proving the physics' vacuum's law. It is very hard to p...

Interesting Times and geraniums

When I was expecting my son nothing went according to plan. I was rushed into hospital to have a caesarian after only 6 months; at the prenatal clinic we had just got to the breathing techniques,...

The tooth ferry.

When I moved into a flat with my hubby and daughter my English was very limited. In school I had studied German as my main language, so my English was just enough to be understood...it was rather...

My mothers disappearing act.

I was brought up by my mum and I was a single child; we have always been very close to each other. One of my mum’s greatest passion is travelling, so I was lucky enough to travel to many countri...

Lollipop men, a dying breed.

I have always been fascinated by the lollipop men and women. For a part-time job with a low wage, I think it is particularly hard and under-rated; it is no wonder the schools are finding it hard ...

The Thai secret icecream sellers society

We were lucky enough to go to Thailand in January. My best friend and her family worked hard, with my husband’s help, to raise money for us all to go together: it was a trip of a life time....

They are not worth it!

After the last couple of days finally the red mist is starting to fade away. After writing the last blog I started feeling better already, if somewhat revengeful. Today I feel like my old self again. ...

Local bike club threatens the very core of democracy

I’m not sure why some biker gangs still have to prove to be virile, I don’t understand why they feel so threatened by other bike clubs, aren’t they supposed to support each other? Ar...
