Belladonna...Take a walk in a sleepless dream. Don’t try to wake up! Why bother waking up if you can hear echoes of the sound of your heart whispering in your ears? Feel the lightness of your feet while you’re floating in your dream and passing clouds by. Have a cup of a our tea... made by Belladonna.The view of the lake in the afternoon beside the campus buildings was so inspirational that it led Prima (vocals, guitars, simple keys) and Dimas (drums, percussions) to produce melancholic sounds and lyrics. It was 2003 and they would hang out at the lake almost every afternoon, trying to make up songs. Inspirations drew from Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, to My Bloody Valentine and Sigur Ros. After the search for another guitarist to complete the band, they finally met another shoegaze fan and also Prima’s side-project partner, Coxon, who played with them for about 3 years. Besides performing their own songs, they would also do covers of their favorite bands such as Interpol, My Bloody Valentine and Low among others. In 2004 they performed in Clover’s Album Launch Party in De Basic Café alongside The Safari. Unfortunately they haven’t found a steady bassist at the time. Reni, former bassist of Sajama Cut, and Romy, guitarist of Measure Beat, used to be their additional bassist. Later in 2005, they chose Mahadevi, who is also a longtime side-project partner of Prima, to take up the bass. After some gigs, rehearsals and song-writings, Coxon left the band in early 2006. He later formed Sarin, which became a household name in the post-rock community, particularly in Jakarta. The three members (Prima, Dimas and Mahadevi) stayed and improved their stuff even more. Proving what seemed impossible is in fact truly possible. The band is currently doing gigs, more active in song-writing and will soon be featured in some of indie-compilation albums. After a few years, Belladonna decided to recruit a keyboardist for a special touch in their music. Indro 'Simone Aurelie' joined them in 2008 with his talent for creating beautiful and melancholic notes. After some time, the foursome has this plan on the top of their minds: A debut album is on their first top-list. Hopefully Belladonna will be able to serve 'a nice cup of tea' in the music scene.While not busy with Belladonna, the members are working on some other projects. Prima is planning to release a solo album, Dimas and Indro are also doing musical projects for a theater production, while Mahadevi occasionaly plays and performs with the band thedyingsirens and Sarin. Though they're (sometimes) busy with their own thing, Belladonna is their main priority.
