Ok, so you have been booking shows with promoters, buying in, selling tickets and playing your heart out. You have a great time, meet some new friends, visit with old friends, and, depending on your draw of fans to the venue, maybe you’ll get an invite to do another show in the future. That’s awesome!
There are many of good Promoters in the industry and most put on great shows at great venues. They provide a venue, find the talent, provide flyers, promo posters and tickets, create the show schedule and some may advertise in local media and maybe bulletin their MySpace friends.
But what exactly are they promoting? The EVENT! We’ve all seen the flyers and event notices; “Music Fest ‘07 at Club Wonderland, Featuring Some Band, Some Other Band and Yet Another Band, $10.00 pre-sale, $12.00 at the door". That is event promotion.
