As a singer-songwriter, Joal Ryan has performed at Los Angeles-area venues such as Hallenbeck's General Store, the Kibitz Room, the Fake Gallery, the UnUrban Coffehouse and Genghis Cohen.
Her self-titled debut album, with touches of alt-folk ("If It's All the Same"), country ("Nice Guy"), and break-up music to read expatriate poetry by ("Ezra Pound") was released in 2004. She is at work on a follow-up.
