Jack Brewer and Joe Baiza co-founded Saccharine Trust in 1980. Jack poured his heart out for 6 years until Saccharine Trust called it quits. Jack later went on to form the Jack Brewer Band and played in Sandbox. Jack also recorded two improvisational albums with Bazooka . In 1996, he reformed Saccharine Trust with Joe Baiza and currently continues with that. Jack has the Jack Brewer Reunion Band doing gigs presently as well. Jack also does occasional poetry readings.
Ed (Bags) Huerta ex of The Final Tourguides, Moist and Meaty, Lazy Cowgirls . Ed played his first gig with Jack Brewer in Brewer's Picnic (a superstar group that included Joe Baiza, T-Ray Vogelzang, Ron Levy and Jack Brewer). They blew away a festival crowd that clamored for more, Jack hand-picked the best parts of that band and formed The Jack Brewer Band..Ed chose the band and turned down a minor league contract with the California Angels (LHP) and the rest is history...
At age 16, Philo was sitting around in a garage in Torrance with his buddy Roger drinking beer. They decided the only way to get chicks was to start a band. "Mass Confusion" was born. Their first gig was a jock party where Philo convinced the jocks that he was in a top 40 cover band. During the performance, Philo started yelling obscenities at all the jocks
who subsequently tried to shut down the gig. Fortunately, several hippies showed up and through the ensuing riot, the gig went on.
Joe Dean was born in a log cabin that he helped his mother build. He has played bass in fX, A Few Circles, Laughing Academy, Tin Brood , Noise God, Maria Silver and The Mooseheart Interstellar Groove Band among others. Besides The Jack Brewer Reunion Band he also plays bass in Crawlspace and the re-formed Cast of a Thousand.
Although Freda Renté is primarily a vocalist in The Jack Brewer Reunion Band, she also plays bass, keyboard, guitar, drums and sitar. In fact, she'll play anything she can get her hands on. Freda released a 22 song CD "Where's My Water?" featuring an army of talent, Dez Cadena , Nels Cline , Watt , Kira , Robert Hecker , Mario Lalli, Gary Arce , Jonathan Hall and a many, many more. She has published an art/lyric book, designed jewlry, and an adult game" Your Wish Is My Desire", has produced other artists, and I think she may I have found a cure for the hick-ups! Freda is currently working on a new reggae cd, rock cd and an accoustic cd. She is publishing her second book.
