Playing bass, writing, playing guitar, reading, music, singing, Spanish, psychology, comedy, history, philosophy, astronomy/astrophysics, metaphors, really bad puns, hilarious incongruity, video/computer games, science fiction, fantasy, stoicism, honor, balance, benign misanthropy, chivalry, laconicism, quixoticism, witty banter, concerts, having an obscure quote or lyric ready for nearly any occasion, rain, poetry, plantlife, RPGs, transforming robots, hermits with mysterious pasts, offbeat shenanigans, UFO phenomena, breaking your soul (woh woh tonight), meaningful conversations, good spelling and grammar, kicking your *donkey* at Street Fighter, making the English language my *female dog*, and other miscellanea
I'd like to meet other writers, musicians, and creative/open-minded/intelligent/deep/witty people of all sorts with whom to converse and possibly establish what is referred to by humans as friendship.
Some of the bands/artists whose music I dig (in alphabetical order) include: 8stops7, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Tori Amos, Anthrax, Apocalyptica, Audioslave, the Barenaked Ladies, Black Label Society, Breaking Benjamin, John Carey, Peter Cetera/Chicago, Phil Collins, the Cranberries, Disturbed, Dream Theater, Finger Eleven, Ben Folds (Five), Fozzy, Garbage, Hall & Oates, Stu Hamm, Buddy Holly, Iron Maiden, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joel, Elton John, Juanes, Live, Local H, Stephen Lynch, Sarah McLachlan, Meat Loaf, Metallica, Monster Magnet, Alanis Morissette, Muse, Nonpoint, the Offspring, Our Lady Peace, Pantera, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Seven Mary Three, Sevendust, Shadows Fall, Silverchair, Simon and Garfunkel, Soundgarden, Regina Spektor, Stone Temple Pilots, Stuck Mojo, Sum-41, System of a Down, Tenacious D, Third Eye Blind, Three Days Grace, Three Doors Down, Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Dar Williams, Within Temptation, Brian Vander Ark, the Verve Pipe, and "Weird" Al Yankovic. While the aforementioned lean heavily toward the rock end of the spectrum, I enjoy any music which moves me. I especially enjoy thoughtful and meaningful lyrics. Generally, I can't stand rap, techno, or anything that uses "sawtooth" as one of its primary "instruments."
Willow, Contact, the Princess Bride, the Harry Potter movies, The Addams Family, Great Expectations, Spanglish, Donnie Darko, Spaceballs, Bill & Ted 1+2, Transformers: the Movie, A League of Their Own, Army of Darkness, The Cutting Edge, Field of Dreams, A Walk to Remember, Airheads, Garden State, The Princess Diaries, Best of the Best, Batman, Spiderman 1+2, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Unbreakable, and tons of others I can't think of at the moment.
I don't watch very much television; when I do, it's usually limited to Star Trek: TNG/DS9 reruns, Jeopardy, or Science/Discovery Channel documentaries. I am also rather fond of Babylon 5.
