THE BIOGRAPHY OF PHILIP MICHAEL
Philip Michael Gabriel Thomas II was born in Coral Gables, Miami, FL on September 20th, 1986. A revolutionary R&B artist with a new breed of sound combining both past and present, is bound to leave his mark in the music industry. His father, Philip Michael Thomas , an American actor most famous for his role as detective Ricardo Tubbs, became a pop culture icon in the 1980s hit TV series Miami Vice . His mother, Dhaima Matthews , built a high profile career in the music industry as a Career Director/Manager for some of the biggest legends such as Betty Wright , the great late Bob Marley and Rita Marley .
Never deviating from his passion for music, Philip knew at an early age what it meant to him. "Everyday I wake up in the morning, literally singing. There are melodies in my head 95% of the day." Philip is most notable as a writer for Betty Wright's music group The M.O.S.T. (Mountain of Songs Today). In 2000, he sang background vocals for Trick Daddy 's hit single " I'ma Thug " and "Livin' in a World". Additionally, he was able to showcase his vocal talent on DMX 's 2006 " Lord Give Me A Sign " produced by Scott Storch . Philip Michael can be seen in Rihanna 's music video " We Ride ", Anthony B 's " Lighter " Ft. Wyclef Jean & BoneCrusher , and Tanya Stephens ' " It's A Pity ". Locally he has performed live events for an audience of over 10,000 at Mardi Gras, The Martin Luther King Celebration, & Zoe's Summer Groove in Miami.
"I don't consider myself an R&B singer, I consider myself an entertainer." As a musician, he taught himself how to play acoustic guitar and became a well known street performer in prime locations including South Beach, Las Olas, Bayside, and Atlantic Station. Progressing in his music, he later would be requested to play sets at various night clubs, weddings, and private venues.
The evolution of Philip Michael has been inspired by many artists, yet only three of which stand out tremendously. Creating their own sound of individuality, Bob Marley , Elvis Presley and James Brown , became the greatest of their time.
