GOLDIE
Goldie was born Samuel Michael Golden Jr., October 17, 1973, in St Louis, Missouri. Goldie grew up listening to a variety of musical styles; however hip hop was the music that he was most drawn to. Goldie first began to rap in 1985 at the age of 12. It was the music of LL Cool J that inspired him to create his first rap. Other artists who have inspired Goldie are, Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, NWA, Too $hort, Just Ice, Scarface, Tupcac, and many more.
Before embarking on his solo career Goldie preformed with a few rap groups such as: Triple X Crew and Organized Crime Posse (O.C.P). Goldie began his career using the rap name of Pure Gold; however he made the choice to stick with the name of Goldie because it is the name he is most widely known by.
In 2001 he teamed up with Remix, the CEO of Headnod Production the result was his current EP (available for purchase below) In 2004 Goldie hooked up with Horizon of Reign Records. These Local appearance has given Goldie the opportunity to work with several well know and respected performers. To date Goldie has opened for Goodie Mob, 2 live Crew, Lil Flip, Chingy, Loyd Banks Fat Joe, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and Lil Wanye. His local appearances has given Goldie a strong local following, and listening to his music it is easy to see why. His music is filled with infectious hooks, superb beats and direct-hit lyrics; this creates his own unique style of rap that he refers to as throw-back. Goldie is an extraordinary lyricist with a distinctively laid back charisma that makes every line he spits a potential anthem. Goldie is looking forward to bringing you more of his sound from the Midst (midwest). You will be able to experience this distinctive style on his upcoming album The Game For Dummies. Album in stores Nov. 8 2005. With the release of his album The Game For Dummies, Goldies intention is to share with the world his knowledge and love of the game.
