About Me

.. .. .. .. .. ..  &nbsp I grew up as an air force brat, spending most of that time at Offut AFB in Omaha, NE. We were also stationed in Seoul, Korea; and Zweibrucken, Germany. I started playing guitar at age 14, the year before I moved to Germany. The first guitar lick I ever learned was the intro lick to Poison's "I Won't Forget You". In Germany, my best friend(Kyle LaVelle) was a drummer and we played in a band together, playing cover tunes at highschool dances and Beer Fests. My first concert I ever went to was Skid Row opening up for Motley Crue in Mannheim Germany (Dr. Feelgood tour).
&nbsp When I came back to the states (11th grade), I befriended a manic depressant genius named Doug who also played guitar. He turned me on to all different kinds of music ranging from Frank Zappa, Frank Sinatra, Adrian Belew, Stanly Jordan, Pink Floyd, etc.. He also rekindled my interest in the Beatles (which Dad had raised me on). One time we stayed up all night recording an eBow version Eleanor Rigby on his TASCAM porta 4.
&nbsp I went to college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, for one year and majored in music- with piano as my instrument. I was never very proficient at piano, I just had no interest in the other alternative - classical guitar. I spent the whole first semester (unimpressively) learning Mozart's "Turka ala Rondo". Instead of continuing school, I joined the Air Force to play guitar for the Air Force Band. 3 years in to my enlistment, my wife and best friend to be, Taryn, joined the Air Force and came to sing for the band I was in........ I fell madly love and the rest is history.
&nbsp While still in the Air Force (back in Omaha) I began cowriting songs with a friend - Tim Bezy. He convinced me that "Nashville" was the place to be...... so I moved to here in '99 to pursue songwriting. Signed with Balmur/Corus Music in Nov of 2001. After a short run there, I went on to sign with Big Picture Entertainment and wrote there for 2 years. Between the two deals, I had songs recorded by Neal McCoy, Kelley Coffee, Tebey Ottoh, Sammy Kershaw, Riccochet, and Brooks and Dunn, to name a few. Since then, I've had songs recorded by Western Underground, April Taylor, Derek Sholl, and Zona Jones.
&nbsp In addition to writing music, I've also had one foot in record production. Some of my credits to date include: Jamey Johnson, Dustin Evans, Jimmy Weber, Heath Hensley, Western Underground, Josh Evertsen, Chancey Williams, Stormy Montana, and Jerrod Niemann.
&nbsp Currently, I own a recording studio on 16th Ave (Music Row) called "The Mix Dream Studio", which is also the home of Write Brain Entertainment- my publishing and production companies.
