RUSTY KAGE has been a recording project of mine since the time when I was playing in the band BILOXI (1995-2000) on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, recording with BILOXI, session playing for local/regional bands, touring with BILOXI, and sharing the stages with 3 DOORS DOWN, ABUSE, SUPER JOINT RITUAL (Phil Anselmo's band), SCHMILL, SURVIVOR, NOZMO, MAY FLOOD, AISLE 9, SLUMP, GUZZO, BLACKWATER, LEVEL w/ the GROUND, CHANGE TO EDEN, and EVE'S CHILD.
RUSTY KAGE'S unfinished tracks (not on playlist yet) are being recorded at Billy Harshbarger's (3 DOORS DOWN sound and production engineer) Studio with Rory Faciane (HOLLOWDAY's drummer, MUDVAYNE's Studio drum technician) on drums, Brian Strong on guitar and vocals, and Billy on bass and vocals. Hurricane Katrina slowed the completion of the CD, but 2009 looks good for an early summer RUSTY KAGE release.
Until then, please enjoy these 10 songs that I have downloaded from some of my former bands and some session work- the tracks from Clyde Holly's (R.I.P. 9/10/2006) band BILOXI- tracks 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Clyde was BILOXI's founder and song writer, singer, guitarist, bassist, Ash America Records owner, and studio engineer). These first 4 songs are pre-production BILOXI material (tracks 2,3, & 4 were later re-recorded and released on BILOXI's 2nd CD 'Right the Music') as a follow up to BILOXI's number 1 Asian 'Import of the Year' and top ten Japanese hit (remake from MOUNTAIN's song) "Mississippi Queen" from BILOXI's debut album 'Let the Games Begin'. Reviews from all over the world on BILOXI are very impressive- check out their webpage- WWW.BILOXIMUSIC.COM.
All 10 songs were tracked and mastered in Clyde's (HOLLY HOUSE) recording studio by Clyde with additional mastering by Billy Harshbarger. The song "Vampire" features Clyde Holly on vocals, guitar, and bass/ Rory Faciane on drums/ Erik Nilsson on piano-strings and lyrics/ David Allen Coe's fiddle player on violin solo. "Pray for Rain" features Clyde Holly on vocals, guitar, and bass/ Rory Faciane on drums/ Erik Nilsson on Hammond B-3 and backing vocals/ Billy Harshbarger on backing vocals. "Do Ya" is Clyde Holly on vocals, guitars, bass/ Billy Harshbarger on harmony vocals with Clyde/ Erik Nilsson, Matt Keel, Billy Harshbarger, Lorinda Daniels, Sean Keenan, and Clyde Holly on backing vocals. "Universal Need" and "Release" are by the New Orleans based MAY FLOOD-- Brian Strong (formerly of ABUSE- PANTERA's main Louisiana opening band in the mid '90's) on vocals and lead guitar/ Henry Klibert on drums/ Tim Martin on guitar and backing vocals/ Billy McGaha on bass/ and Erik Nilsson on synthesizer and piano. "City Unseen" was written by two guys from Alaska (THE PILGRIMS)- they were at Holly House recording a few tracks and I have since forgotten their names. The two played the guitar and bass tracks/ Donnie Dee Baker (R.I.P. 12/1999) on drums/ Tom from SCHMILL lent his incredible vocals/ Erik Nilsson on synthesizer. BLACKWATER's song "Just a Man" was performed by Joe Fick on vocals/ Christian Perkins on bass/ Ramendra James on guitar/ Bob Campbell on acoustic guitar/ Eric Perkins on drums/ Erik Nilsson on piano-strings/ Clyde Holly, Joe Fick, Eric and Christian Perkins on backing vocals. DISCIPLINED SON's song "Spellbound" is Richard Schiro on vocals/ Doug McLemore and Vic Bolian on guitar/ Pam McLemore on bass/ Ron Pettit on drums/ Erik Nilsson, Sean Keenan, Lorinda Daniels, Doug, Vic, Richard, and Pam on backing vocals. ABUSE's instrumental track is Brian Strong on guitar/ Erik Nilsson on synthesizer. This debut ABUSE disc (A Sunday Morning Killing Spree) sold a respectable 40,000 copies in Germany.
If you like the way BILOXI sounded in 1997 on the first 4 pre-production tracks above, you've got to check out their new material!!!- BILOXI III 'In the Wake of the Storm' through Retrospect Records-RETROSPECTRECORDS.COM- (our '97 pre-production song "Pray for Rain"-track 1 above- is featured on the new CD, as is our '97 unfinished pre-production song "Have Mercy"- as a dedication to Clyde's early passing -9/10/2006 -RIP...). Also, notice the studio (HOLLY HOUSE) in the youtube BILOXI interview - I built that along with the help from James Earle (GUZZO's vocalist and guitar virtuoso- I played in GUZZO from 1994-96) for Clyde in 1996). My friends in the band 3 DOORS DOWN recorded there 2nd. Brad Arnold played drums on their debut CD at HOLLY HOUSE (and in Los Angeles, -- the same songs on their 1st disc were re-recorded in a Universal-Republic Records multi-million dollar studio).Check out BILOXIMUSIC.COM or RETROSPECTRECORDS.COM and buy the kick ass new BILOXI III cd today!
