Heliotrope (festival)

Heliotrope, Flaneur Productions' annual three-day exhibition of contemporary underground music, is back for its sixth year this May. We are proud to return to the Ritz Theater again this year; in our experience, the Ritz is easily among our city's all-time finest venues. The festival will take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of May, and promises to be as interesting as ever this year. We have once again made an exception to our once-steadfast "all-local" rule this year to feature an appearance by Madison's great experimental folk duo Spires That In The Sunset Rise, whose recent appearance in town showed an amazing progression from their previous incarnation as a quartet. Other confirmed acts include Skoal Kodiak, Knife World, a dual percussion set by Milo Fine and Davu Seru, Vampire Hands, International Novelty Gamelan, Gay Witch Abortion, Lungs, Paul Metzger, WRONG, Moonstone, Mach FoX and many more. Surreal video montage will be ably handled throughout the weekend by the very talented Emily Kaplan, who has shown herself to be a living encyclopedia of mind-boggling imagery in past events.
