About Me

M3 or M-Trey originated from his first rap alias Metaphlo; where the first two letters were taken in reference to the launch of his solo career. Moreover, the E was flipped to a "3" (referencing the way he flips his delivery and word play). Conversely, the alias Trey Beama represents the lighter side of his personality; where his swagger and smoothness are dominant. Trey Beama was quoted at saying, “Skies the limit …whoever said that quote don’t know me cause I feel at this point I got no limit. I’m feelin beamed up forreal...”. Thus, Beama evolved from the words “beamed up” representing his assertive attitude.
Trey was raised by a single mother who devoted her life to work in order to support the family. Obligated from an early age, Trey spent most of his time staying at home and taking care of his little brother. However, at home he was able to take advantage of his time by listening to several kinds of music. In particular, it was the hip hop artists which captivated his imagination (such as, Big L, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Wu Tang Clan). He would find himself concentrating on the content; especially fascinated by the structure of their lyrics and composition of their melodies. Fortunately, at the age of thirteen he was given the opportunity to record his first song in a professional environment (through a family friend). Over the next few years he remixed countless amounts of popular songs on a whim without fully grasping his raw potential. However, the ease of which the rhythm and lyrical patterns of songs came to him began to materialize before his eyes.
Soon thereafter, Metaphlo, came of age and Trey began to take his rapping abilities more seriously. At the age of 16 he joined his first hip hop group and started getting introduced to more lyrically structured elements and patterns. With each subsequent group that he joined, Trey was able to learn different aspects of the Hip Hop world. Trey was never really interested in mimicking popular artists; instead he found it more fulfilling to melt all his different influences creating his original style.
By age 18 “M3” was born taking the first 2 letters of “Metaphlo” signaling his first release of his solo EP. From the first release of his EP he began to do several performances in the Los Angeles area, including numerous stage performances along side various successful local artists. Eventually, Trey was able to attain a long awaited dream by opening for one of his favorite hip hop legends, GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan.
At the present time, Trey has grown and continues to work with various local and mainstream producers such as the infamous Fingazz. Trey has met the potential that he always imagined; but always unsatisfied, Trey has created a new pinnacle to reach. With his highly anticipated collaborative mix tape with MC Hinomaru, Rel Princeton and his solo mix tape dropping soon, one can only imagine the surprises in store for the future. 2009 is only the beginning.
