I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a decent, well-mannered, self-deprecating and nice down-to-earth guy. I tend to have a fairly sarcastic and skeptical outlook on life, but I roll with the punches better than most. I'm dedicated, hard-working, sincere, patient, honest & loyal... sometimes to a fault. I tend to like simple things in life like people-watching, having a good time with close friends and lots of laughter.

I'm also a hard-core family guy, through and through. I have three daughters -- I love them more than the air I breathe, and would do anything for them.

I was raised in a small town near St. Louis, and moved to Colorado 18 some-odd years ago (which, by some people's account, makes me about as close to a "native" as you can get anymore). Almost all of my family is back in the St. Louis area, and I miss them on a daily basis. I grew up hanging out with my 3 brothers (by choice, not by default), and we are still extremely close to this day.

I have my own business, as well as working full-time for a successful international software company.

I'm not a big "outdoorsy" type -- heck, I'm not even "Mr. Kind-Of-Outdoorsy" -- although I enjoy the occasional day hike, or going to events like the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. As far as camping, hunting or fishing? Well Gorton's goes a great job with fish already, and my idea of "roughing it" is not taking my espresso maker with me when I go to Vail Resort in the fall. I know how to fish, and the military taught me how to survive in the wild extremely well - however, these things hold little to no interest for me as a form of recreation.

I like the Av's, Rapids, Rockies, Broncos and the Mammoth (new to watching Lacrosse, and it's very cool), but I'm not a sports nut - I couldn't quote a sports stat to save my life, and I have a hard time remembering player's names, unless they've been in the news.

I really enjoy cooking, even though I have few opportunities to pursue it (It's rare that you find a recipe that says "serves one" *laughs*). I'm an extremely passionate person, and that extends to many facets of my life, especially art (in all it's forms) and music.

I'm a Secular Humanist, which basically means I don't believe in any gods, demons, mythical beings, psychics, supernatural forces, ghosts, goblins, fairies or anything of the sort -- even though science fiction is my favorite genre of books and films (go figure, huh?). I am well-studied in many of the major and minor religions of the world - I choose to believe in science and humans, and all the power, potential and possibility that they encapsulate... both good and bad.

I know this seems odd to most, but I really don't like beer. It smells and tastes like wet bread to me. The only thing I can stomach is the occasional wheat-based beer, and even then, it has to have a chunk of orange in it. Now, a Scooby Snack or Captain and Coke, on the other hand... well that's a different story altogether.

I'm a hard-core Macintosh and Apple user, promoter, programmer, geek, nerd... whatever you want to call it. I often refer to myself as a "Mac Evangelist," and have had more than one girlfriend refer to my computer as "the other woman" *laughs* - in a matter of minutes, I can show you that once you go Mac, you'll never want to go back. =)

"A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn."
- Edmund Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson), Blackadder II

"Some motherf**kers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
- Blade (Wesley Snipes), Blade

"Mad About You" TV show:
[Paul is licking invitation envelopes]
Jamie: How are you holding up?
Paul: Well if I had two more tongues, I'd be the happiest person on Earth.
Jamie: [lights a cigarette] Second happiest.

"Life would be tragic if it weren't funny."
- Stephen Hawking

"You get what everyone gets. A lifetime."
- Death, The Sandman

"I find it strange that nearly everyone knows what the word "psychic" means, but next to no one knows what apophenia or pareidolia mean - what a different place the world would be, if they only knew the latter the way they think they know the former."
- Trev (yeah, I just quoted myself lol)

Such a great short film, and an excellent commentary on life in the city. Very well done.

And now, a word from Trev...
No offense to anyone, but if you add monster-sized pictures in my Comments or mile-long tirades in my Blog, chances are very good that I will delete the comment. It's not a slight or some kind of passive-agressive thing, I just don't like that it jacks up my profile's layout. Nothing against anyone who leaves a comment... I love getting comments and kudos... I just hate the really wide pics and diatribes, that's all. I mean... that's what your profile and blog are for. *laughs*

My pirate name is: Dread Pirate Rackham Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, I have a keen head for how to make a profit. I also have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACK-em, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!
