Rachel Wacholder has established herself as one of the top AVP Women on the Tour, as her 21 championship appearances since the start of 2005 are the fourth most of any player. She also has finished two of the last three seasons as the third-ranked player.Wacholder and Elaine Youngs won three tournaments during the 2005 season: the Cincinnati Open, the Huntington Beach Open and the Boulder Open. In winning the AVP Cincinnati Open, Wacholder and Youngs put a halt to the 50-match win streak held by Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. The win in Boulder was special as well, as it happened in her college town and on the same day her then-boyfriend Sean Scott won the men's title.In 2006, Wacholder and Youngs claimed two more titles before parting ways. Playing with Jennifer Boss, the duo made it to a pair of finals and four semifinals in total. Wacholder was chosen by Walsh in the Goddess of the Beach tournament in September 2006 to be her partner in the finals, helping Walsh win her first individual title. In 2007, Wacholder and Tyra Turner paired up to form the fourth-ranked team on tour.In 2005, Wacholder was named the Best Defensive Player and the Most Improved Player of the AVP women after posting the second most kills and second most digs on the Tour. In 2006, she again ranked second in kills (7.71 per game) and seventh in digs (5.17 per game), while in 2007 she was ninth in digs (5.49 per game).Wacholder won two FIVB Grand Slam events in 2004 alongside Olympic gold medal winner Walsh, filling in for an injured May-Treanor.Wacholder graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Communications where she was also named Big 12 All-Conference twice.Born and raised in Laguna Beach, Wacholder now resides in Redondo Beach with her husband Sean Scott, a player on the AVP Tour. The two were married in November 2007.She played volleyball in high school and was a California State Player of the Year. She occasionally does commercials and sports modeling in the off-season.
