Ventura County Hip-Hop artist and founder of So Cal Musician, Blitz The Insomnyac, is an open minded musician with a style not commonly found in Hip-Hop today. Writing contsantly about the good, bad and the ugly events in his life, The Insomnyac is a musician many music lovers can relate to.
"Music is an art of expression," said The Insomnyac. "At the same time it is entertainment. You have to make music that is true to yourself, but it's also a good idea to write what people can relate to."
His songs gather a wide range of vibes ranging from the serious, to the comedic, to the constant flow of punch lines. Yet, throughout this stretch of diversity, The Insomnyac is able to stay well paced in his own style. A true perfectionist, The Insomnyac will not release any song without making sure he has said every word and taken every breath in what is his idea to be the correct way.
"The way I see it," said The Insomnyac, "it better be perfection on CD. And it should be even more perfection whenever I am performing live."
As a child, The Insomnyac paid attention to the lyricism in every song he heard, which is why his main focus in creativity became based in Hip-Hop music. He gained his style from many different influences ranging from the complexity of Royce Da 5'9, storytelling and shock value of Eminem, and from a business and production aspect, Dr Dre.
"You can never have too many influences," said The Insomnyac. "Some of my influencial icons arent even from Hip-Hop music."
The Insomnyac says that the hardest thing about being a Hip-Hop artist is the fact that there is a lot of music out there that gives the genre of Hip-Hop a bad name, and that it has gotten to the point where some people do not want to hear it anymore. Like many underground Hip-Hop artists, The Insomnyac is not too fond of most commercialized rap music.
The Insomnyac is the founder/owner of So Cal Musician, a company that started off as a small recording studio and grew into the multi-service one-stop-shop for local musicians it is today. Though he has deticated his life to his company to help the musicians of Southern California, he never fails to find the time to write his own music.
