About me...hmmm.Well, I come from along line of musicians stretching back to my great grand parents. My grandfather, Eric White Sr, use to play, and sing around the house in the evenings after dinner for the family. At that time, my father,(Roland White, the oldest of five children), began to take interest in playing the instruments that my grandfather use to play. My grandfather taught my father a few chords on the instruments, and from there my father began teaching his siblings how to play as well. In time they would begin to play local shows around town in southern California during the late 50's, early 60's, and from there my father, and his brothers, (Clarence White, and Eric White Jr), pursued music as careers. So now we go into the future a little....I started playing music at an early age. I was 4 yrs old, (probably younger), when I began to take an interest in playing the upright bass...it was my first love of an instrument. At the time, my father took notice and began to nurture my musical abilities, and eventually he would take me to his gigs at the local clubs to perform on stage with him and his friends. When I became a little older my father began to take me out on the road with his band, (Country Gazette), to perform while I was out of school for the summers. In between that time I was invited to appear on local T.V. shows with him, and other musical acts of the time, and was invited once, ( at the age of 6), by Marty Stuart to perform On The Grand Ole Opry with him, and Lester Flatt. In time soon after I played on numerous albums with many different artists in, and around Nashville, and occassoinally I had the oppurtunity to jam with some of the greats like, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Emmy Lou Harris, Marty Stuart, Edgar Meyer, David Grier, and of course my fathers many local bands with many, many other greats of the Nashville scene. During these times of playing with so many great musicians in not only Bluegrass, but Jazz grass, (as some would refer to this strange hybrid of music), I had a deep love for all genres of music thanks to my Mother, and father. I grew up listening to everything from Jazz to Motown, Classical to Reggae, Blues to Rock n Roll-I guess you could say my musical taste is as broad as the horizons. My father once told me, "If you want to be the best musician that you can be, you have to broaden your horizons. Don't limit yourself to just one genre-experience them all, and let them take hold of you, because then your abilities will become limitless." Well, I took his advice, and have carried that with me ever since. I've played in numerous Rock, alternitive, metal, jazz, Funk, and even Blues bands of my own since I was 19. Yes, I took the advice and incorporated some of those favorite styles of music in my current band 'Saint to Sinner'- just go to my blogs and you will see for yourself what music really means to me.
