********This is a tribute page to a defunct Christchurch band********________In the mid 1990's, four dudes from Christchurch, New Zealand, drawn together by a mutual interest in heavy music, decided to start a band. The problem was, there were four guitarists and nothing else... Ray Walkinshaw had already been lead guitarist with Nick King, who had been doing rhythm guitar and vocals back at Linwood High School... both Bruce Lindstrom and Ricky Kazmierczak also played guitar (also ex Linwood students), but King had been dabbling in drums, so happily became drummer and backing vocalist, whilst Lyndstrom proved to have a beast of a voice, stepped up to the mic and became frontman.They first hit the live scene playing a handful of originals and a bunch of covers, including bands like Sepultura and Slayer, but also had a thing for covering tunes by local bands they also liked (Pumpkinhead's "I Like" and Human's "Easter Basket Full of Carnage").A series of demo's were recorded, but only the first one was ever properly released. It contained the first four songs Wart wrote as a group, Cyanide, Bad Taste, S.L.A.Y.E.R (Satan Laughs as you Eternally Rot), and GUTT.)After a few years of playing their own brand of semi-humorous ChCh metal, the band took on a stylistic change and recruited ex-Moose vocalist Euan Parker, and recorded a demo under the new band name of "Laymantwist"... unfortunately Euan soon moved out of town and the band disintegrated after several failed attempts at recruiting a new frontman. Only one show as Laymantwist was ever played, and included a very, very heavy cover version of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit".King later joined successful ChCh Metal band Tainted as guitarist/vocalist, but left in mid 2007 to pursue other things.This page is a memorial to the first few years of Wart, and somewhere to keep the demo's alive.
