J-Dub

About Me

Windy City dj/producer and lead singer of the Greenskeepers and Science & Industry globetrotting J-Dub has been beating sound systems across North American and Europe to the ground with his signature bass rattling Chicago house sound for a decade and counting. His funky, witty, and throwback style of vocals on labels as diverse as Greenskeepers Music (GKM), DFA Records, Drop Music, and even the Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack shine on tracks produced by studio collaborators James Curd and Greenskeepers. His heavy, deep technique has opened the doors to many residencies at top venues across North America including Shelter (Chicago), Crobar (Chicago), Red Dog (Chicago), Common Thread @ Sonar (Vancouver), 360 (Los Angeles), Sorted @ Smart Bar (Chicago), Material @ Rednofive (Chicago), and US Resident for Ministry of Sound. J-Dub got his first real break in 2000, when he toured North America with house legend Mark Farina and DJ Heather on the 31-city San Francisco Sessions tour. This led to his becoming a frequent guest at the top house venues across North America and Europe including Industry (Toronto), Crobar (Miami), The End (London), Folies Pigalle (Paris), Transit (Philadelphia), and Melodic (Los Angeles). Along the way he played shows with some of the top talents in the industry including Moby, Fat Boy Slim, Derrick Carter, Josh Wink, King Britt, Francois Kevorkian, and Derrick May to name a few. At Industry, he became a key figure in the Canadian house scene with his performances at DJ Sneak’s Solid monthly. Since those days in the late 90s, J-Dub has toured Canada from coast to coast and become a regular at Sneak Beats events in Chicago, Miami, London, and Toronto. One the first artists to join the All World Entertainment Group (now APT Entertainment), he’s constantly in the studio writing and recording vocals for multiple projects. His first release, On The Line, was featured on Greenskeepers Music 013. The strong response to this track led to an EP of remixes, Greenskeepers Music 015, featuring house production luminaries Kaskade, J.T. Donaldson, Mark Farina, and Pete Moss. After a short stint in London, he returned stateside creating a wide range of music with producers James Curd (Greenskeepers) and Chris Holmes (Smashing Pumpkins, Yum Yum). In 2008, the global phenomenon GTA IV blew up with the Greenskeepers’ Vagabond pumping out of surround sound systems around the world. The track’s vocals were written and performed by J-Dub and Nick Maurer and mark the beginning of a new era for the multi-talented performer. Buffalo Girl was also released .. Music followed by a remix ep on GKM featuring Chicago House masters Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak. The follow up You Know What To Do (GKM) also featured to sizzling remixes from the boompty king Derrick Carter. A new Science & Industry (Chris Holmes, James Curd, and J-Dub) album and live show is in the works as well as more singles including We Just Won’t Stop (DFA Records). The Greenskeepers are also back on the road with a full slate of gigs lined up coming soon to a venue near you. Mixing old-school Chicago house, electro, funk, rap, and synth rock, J-Dub, James, and Chris produce an edgy, literate brew of club jams designed to make your body move.
