City of Gates is a Durban based hardcore band, who over the past year have established themselves in the growing Durban hardcore scene. Expect to hear brutal and meaningful music as they fuse hardcore, metal and even a little punk.
Formed in February 2008, and consisting of 5 friends who are united by sheer passion and their faith, City of Gates have come on in leaps and bounds and have found a dedicated following, and amassed many friends. These guys pride themselves on high energy shows, and love whipping the crowd into frenzied circle pits and dog pile gang vocals!
Although they have not been around for very long, they have quite a few accomplishments under their belts, and are really proud to have shared the stage with some of South Africa’s best bands; Straatligkinders, Truth and its Burden, The Dead Will Tell and Go! Go! Bronco, to name a few. They have also completed the recording of their first EP, which will be out soon. One of the songs has already been featured on Bagthemainstream, a local podcast which showcases South Africa’s musical talent. They are currently on a multi city tour called the Give Life Tour, aimed at putting out a positive message to its audiences. Check it out at www.hopehavenrecords.com!
