The concept of ZOPHEROS began in early 1998 under the name SKOTEINOS. After many unsuccessful attempts due to inexperience and a poor budget, the project laid dormant until 2005. In 2007 the name was changed to ZOPHEROS. Even though the early material never saw the light of day, a learning experience was acquired instead. The themes to the music are about insanity, death, darkness and depression. Now that the Black Gates demo is almost complete, a 2009 release looks very possible.
