Shrine Club

About Me

..The band, Shrine Club, was formed in Birmingham, Alabama. Like most bands in Birmingham, they started out rehearsing in a Public Storage unit where the temperature inside the space is the same as the temperature outside, resulting in several bouts of the flu from the cold of winter and dehydration from the scorching southern sun. After four seasons in the various storage units, the band found a rehearsal studio located in an old Masonic Temple, and it was there Shrine Club was born. Shrine Club is a 5-piece band that consists of Marco Amaro (guitar/voice), Carl Marshall (bass), Jarrod Black (drums), Michael Risner (voice/guitar), and Michael Weiss (keyboards). With so many members and instruments, Shrine Club is able to create a big sound. Shrine Club brings a big drama-rock style that has been compared to Talking Heads, Counting Crows, Q and not U, Texas is the Reason, and Weezer. The band’s musical influences range from math rock to hip-hop, which has led to the creation of songs that are texturally intricate yet groovy. Recently, Shrine Club has opened their own studio, appropriately named Grand Lodge Studios, and have been busy recording.
