About Me
Slugbubble, a 4 piece Alt Rock band from Tamworth & the surrounding areas formed in 1990, combining members from the ashes of Happy Alison and Toxic Minge.
Drawing influences from early 90's grunge/Alternative rock/Indie bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, Redd Kross, Mudhoney, Janes's Addiction, Pearl Jam, Mega City Four & Senseless Things, as well as enjoying a deep love of classic rock such as Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Gong, Steve Hillage and Yes.
Slugbubble played over 100 gigs across the Midlands, including supports with Family Go Town and The High, as well as two high profile performances at the Tamworth Rock Festival, during a 3 year period until their premature demise in 1993.
Although Slugbubble had an extensive array of songs, they only ventured into a studio on one occasion (studio rates were higher than that of today) and recorded two tracks, Smiler and Intensity.Only four cassette copies of this recording ever existed, one for each band member, and over time these copies disappeared, until now. The recording had seen better days but we had a go at remastering it and put it up on this site.
Over the years there have been talks of a Slugbubble reunion, this hasn't happened yet but all former members are still active musicians, Singer/Bassist Frank now plays acoustic sets around Tamworth, Rig is guitarist with Coventry Indie band The Crooks, whilst Joe drums with Birmingham Rock band The Aim.Never say never!
