Kristen got her first taste of performing at the age of 11 when she joined her first competitive cheer squad. She subsequently spent the next 12 years of her life dedicated to this sport, ultimately placing first at the National Cheerleaders Association’s West Coast Classic in 1998 and scoring in the top ten at NCA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. It was through this experience that she also discovered a natural talent for dance and became extremely active in her high school’s dance and musical theater programs. She participated in stage productions of West Side Story, starring as Anita and Good News, as Millie. At the age of 16, Kristen was also chosen to perform as a dancer in the Super Bowl XXXII pre-game show. In further pursuit of honing her performance skills, she began participating in pageants and was crowned Miss Southern California Teen 1998, going on to compete for the national title of Miss American Teen. In her senior year of high school, she was awarded the “Bank of America Scholarship” for excellence in Fine Arts and was also selected as an NCA All-American Cheerleader.In 1999, Kristen went on to attend San Diego State University, where she continued competitive cheerleading as an Aztec cheerleader, as well as competing with the West Coast Mavericks All-Stars, until earning her B.A. in Communications in 2003. During this time she was also crowned Miss San Diego USA 2002 and went on to compete at the Miss California USA pageant. In her senior year of college, she also worked as a promotions intern for San Diego’s alternative rock station, 91X. Following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles where she became a successful commercial actress, booking commercials for DIRECTV and Syngenta . She further excelled in her dance career appearing in the Pussycat Dolls “Don’t Cha” video and touring as a back-up dancer with Nikki Flores, as the opening act for Jesse McCartney’s “Beautiful Soul” tour. She has also danced for Jive recording artist, Samantha Jade and was a member of the ABA’s Long Beach Jam dance team. In 2005 she was crowned Miss Northern California and went on to compete at the Miss America Organization’s, Miss California pageant where she earned rave reviews in the talent portion for her portrayal of Velma from the musical, Chicago.In 2006, she began her career as a singer/songwriter and was signed to Epic records with her band, Shut Up Stella. Kristen spent the next year and a half in the studio writing and recording their debut album, in addition to filming a reality show pilot for MTV tentatively titled “The Shut Up Stella Show”. While in Shut Up Stella, she co-wrote and sang lead vocals on the song “Welcome To My Party” which went on to appear in the 2008 film, Baby Mama. They also played several regional shows including San Diego’s Street Scene Festival in the summer of 2007. Shut Up Stella was later dropped from Epic’s roster and split up shortly after.Always having a strong taste for music with a rock influence, she decided to start her own rock band and joined forces with guitar player, Josh Shapiro. In 2008, they started the indie/rock/pop band, Bullet & Snowfox. They have gained early success with their songs “Green Light” and “Neurotic Nancy” featured in movie trailers for indie films, You Are Here and Table for Three. Bullet & Snowfox have also been gaining steam on the internet airwaves of KGRL.FM.
