From an early age I felt music was the sound of revenge. Having a very strict upbringing left Chez(Scar) and I open to the influence of anything anti-establishment. Even at the age of 10, The Who's 'Quadrophenia' and the Pistols 'Never Mind The Bollocks' inspired me. In the following years I had a thirst for more extreme sounds which led me to bands such as Carcass, and in turn carried me to develop a different breed of hardcore music, Headwound was born. In the early years, samples and mechanical beats provided the base to the Headwound sound and the band has been through many changes to before it became 1000 scars.
The band made quite an underground name for itself, handing out demo's at gigs and earned us a dedicated following in the town's we played.. These demo's received top reviews in the fanzines and also a feature in Kerrang with the heading 'Hail Headwound'. Around this time a label wanted to sign us, but we wasn't interested as they had a bad reputation, but also felt confident a better deal would come along.
I toured the country playing bass in the Sex Pistols experience for a year or so, Which gave me another platform to promote Headwound. Then I finally found a drummer able to play how I wanted and a new bassist that gelled the whole thing, my enthusiasm for the band was rekindled. We quickly evolved has a tight band with a chemistry and explosive new sound,we became 1000 scars.
The New Rebellion begins here!

Drums (music) has been the biggest part of my life now for the past 6 years. With never fitting in at school and being crap at most sports, I never knew who I was...until a friend introduced me to music, With the energetic sounds of Green Day and the driving angst of Deftones. The music was a big fuck you! to the people I hated in school who made my life shit. It wasn't until I watched band videos that the thought of playing drums had occured. The sight of drummers playing with such freedom and aggression made me realise this is what I had to do, It was the missing thing in my life. I had a friend who already had some drums. so made him teach me in the school music room, Which we had to blag our way into at every opportunity. I fell in love with the drum kit, dreaming of being in a band. When he could teach me no more I used every last penny I had on drum lessons, despite my parents disapproval. I was desperate to learn more and be in a band, then my friend managed to get me a cheap kit. That was it, playing as much as possible took me to the next level. By the time I had played my first gig at a friends 18th, my music taste had grown to heavier and more diverse bands such as Slayer, Slipknot, Sex Pistols and more. It was at that 18th party I met Craig(Newman666), Who hinted at playing drums for him. Two years and two bands later, in the search for playing something different I rehearsed with Craig(Newman666) and have never looked back. Playing live shows is the best thing on earth and I'm addicted to it. My ambition now is to be known amongst the best live performers outta the UK since The Who!

The seeds of 1000 Scars were sown on the night I watched 'The Great Rock 'n Roll Swindle' with Craig(Newman666). we must have been about 10-12 years old. It made a great impact on me, Drawn by music being a form of rebellion against the strict upbringing that we had, and consequently embraced the chaos that it seemed to provoke.
Over subsequent years I discovered legends of attitude like Iggy and the Stooges,Dead kennedys but really beginning with the darker side of post punk, early Siouxsie, Bauhaus and then embracing the extreme thrash bands which I enjoyed as a live experience. I vented my creativity into art, producing a degree show 'Masks of Nightmares', Which was a great experience in provoking reaction! At the time I worked in an alternative night club, always with a passion for the hardest hitting of the bands being played, especially the more unusual sounds of Ministry,Front 242 and Butthole Surfers.
When Craig(Newman666) started Headwound I supported him in every way I could, our creative paths running a parallel in painting and music.
I joined the in 2004,which seemed natural really with being involved from the beginning and having an head full ideas for the band.
My art career had taken me to the point of working as a custom tattooist, but I never lost that fire in my belly for live music, playing it was the obvious thing to do.My art and dedication for input musically helped fuse the way the band was evolving to become 1000 scars. This triggered a direction for the band artistically through conceptual ideas,an area that I see even good bands fail in for a vital and strong identity.
It's falling together in an amazing way with so many dedicated people showing support and identifying with us,it's giving us the fire to take this to another level and reach everyone.
