[email protected]Puspa comes from Gianyar, the art center of Bali, the art center of the world. She graduated ISI (Indonesian Institute for the Arts) in Denpasar, Bali's capital, and has also gained knowledge of the arts through her international journeys. After receiving numerous awards in Bali and throughout Indonesia for her performances of Balinese dance she began touring International festivals. Since 2000 she has performed in India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Germany and Japan.
Puspa's creative journey continues with sound; taking her passion for movement into the recording studio. With songs composed by Kevin Bird of Bird Productions (Hawaii and California), and lyrics written by Kadek Dewi Aryani, Gus Mantra and Jun Bintang, her first album 'Someday' is an expression of her passion for love and life in Bali. The album also features many indonesian musical masters and Internationally renound musicians such as Balawan, Dewa Budjana, Ocha and many other musicians.
Puspa is currently recording a new “Balinese Folk Song†album with her friends Riwin (the well known and respected Balinese guitarist from Tropical Transit), quite a few other internationally renowned musicians (predominantly American pianist Hank Curtis and Ecuadorian pan flutist Carlos), as well as some brilliant local musicians. Riwin also acts as main musical director - creatively arranging some of the classic Balinese folk songs to give them a new “world music†flair.
As to the sound palette of this album... imagine Putri Cening Ayu with a Spanish guitar touch, Ratu Anom with haunting South American pan flute, Pul Si Noge as a Brazilian Samba, Jenggot Uban in South Pacific Island tradition, and the beloved Meong Meong as a cool New York Jazz tune. (Available in stores - April 2009).
