Waiving Goodbye is an acoustic solo project formed in early 2008 by Alex Simmons, who, at the time, was the lead guitar player in the death metal act, Volsung (www.myspace.com/volsungband). Alex is a self taught musician, picking up bass first, followed by guitar, drums, and lastly keyboards.////In mid January of 08, Alex quit Volsung due to differences in the band, as well to explore music more fully and to just enjoy writing and playing again. Thus, Waiving Goodbye was born.////Alex is now officially returning to the stage with VOLSUNG. Waiving Goodbye will still remain a top priority, seeing as how he can't play just one style of music. He will keep writing and recording in between playing with Volsung.////Drawing from artists such as U2, the Goo Goo Dolls, Howie Day, and many more, Alex hopes to bring an awareness to the music scene that seems to have been lost somewhere in the last few years. The name is a simple play on words but the message is still strong. Sometimes, people don't want to say "goodbye", or let go of what they had (go here for more clarification: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/waive and check definition 3). It's hard, but you have to keep pushing through the tough times, even if it's by yourself. This emotion comes through in every song that Alex writes.////Music is just one of many things that we all feel. It's something that can give us new life.
