About Me

Rich Thiel - Guitarist, Bassist, ComposerRich Thiel is a veteran of the New York music scene, having performed with some of the finest local bands and musicians such as Dirty Love (LIBS Blues Band of the Year 2007), Hooch and the Bluesicians (LIBS Blues Band of the Year 2004),Frank Latorre and the King Bee's (LIBS Blues Band of the Year 2002), Jim Moran, Danny Keane, Andy Aledort (Great Southern /Double Trouble / The Jimi Hendrix Experience), Godfrey Townsend (John Entwistle Band, Jack Bruce, currently the Alan Parsons Project), and LI Blues Godfather Sam Taylor. Rich's musical machinations range from Blues to Rock to Jazz, being strongly influenced by the styling's of Miles Davis, Gatemouth Brown, and Jaco Pastorius. Rich is also an accomplished guitarist, having formally studied both jazz and classical technique. ================================================ ================================================ Hello all, Richard Thiel welcomes you to Me, Myself....An Eye, a site that presents my various musical projects past, present and future. The posted songs are taken from the following projects:The End is Near, Sleeping Sentry, Shaken Not Stirred : from the Cd Reunion released in 2000 with good friend and collaborator Mike Jaye keyboards and yours truly on all Guitars (No other instruments are involved with this recording, some pretty nifty drum programming by Mike Jaye).================================================ ================================================'Running Circles (round ya)' is a musical tribute to two of my major guitar influences, Robert Fripp and Jeff Beck. It is a composition written by Mike Jaye and myself and was included on the Reunion CD. I play all guitars, Mike Jaye plays everthing else. An interesting interplay between Frippertronic style and Beck Style guitar solos. Not too pretentious, eh? ================================================Oreo Cookie Blues was recorded live at EKO Studios 2006. The Band is named Dirty Love and consisted of Pamela Betti on vocals, 'Crashmeister' Mike Scalzo on drums, 'Knob Tweaker' and guitarist extraordinaire Billy Marino and yours truly on the bass. For the record, Dirty Love won the 2006 Long Island Blues Society Band of the Year award, performed at the IBC in Memphis Tn to stellar reviews, and opened for Joe Bonamassa for a sold out performance at the IMAC theater. This is a cover of the Lonnie Mack tune, cool solos to boot. ================================================= On Monday Jan. 5 2009 Long Island Blues Legend and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Sam Bluzman Taylor passed away after a long illness. Sam was a tremendous talent and a real gentleman and I am happy I had the honor of performing with him one time. Sam was a friend to all and always a willing mentor for the future up and coming 'guitslinger'. "Drinking Straight Tequila" is a song that Sam wrote and this version is covered by Jim Moran on guitar, Danny Kean ..boards and vocals, the inimitable Ed The Hat on drums and myself on bass from a show at a club called The Viking back in 2003.Sam Taylor, Gone - but never forgotten - RIP =================================================Hope you enjoy, Ride On....Rich Thiel
