TheNewDialect

TheNewDialect is the improbable musical encounter between Patrick Hamilton (PatMuzak) and Elise Lafontaine, two creative minds from way far apart galaxies. In her universe, painting is what everyone does and painting is her vocation. She's exposed her work in Istanbul, Tokyo and New York. But who can resist it, when such a free spirit finds she can sing, that she loves to sing? Words are just words are just colours, colours she dabs, plays with, as she draws you in, with that voice, perfect gestures of open benevolance... On his side, he's played pretty much every role in rock bands: be it guitar, bass, synth, back or leads vocals, tambourine, whatever, for friends' live projects and recordings (including The Blue Seeds, Urbain Desbois, The Snitches, Carbone 14, etc..) as well as writing, arrangeing and producing songs himself...TheNewDialect project happened by accident, late august 2009 just a jam session in the living room the two of 'em with recording equipement and red wine and voilà! something really happened. Most of these recordings are improvs, worked on/elaborated afterwards...Some folkier tunes happened as well, they will show up soon enough...................Né d'un "accident de salon" - comme ils aiment l'évoquer - TheNewDialect, c'est la rencontre fortuite et inespérée d'un compositeur multi-instrumentaliste et d'une artiste-peintre qui, elle, se découvre chanteuse lors de ce fameux premier "jam". Depuis, Patrick Hamilton - alias PatMuzak (The Snitches, Urbain Desbois, The Blue Seeds, -O-, etc) et Elise Lafontaine (qui, elle, a promené ses tableaux à Istanbul, Tokyo, et New York) trouvent un plaisir à explorer et créer ensemble, dans une douceur et une harmonie qu'on peut presque palper à l'écoute de leur musique. Besognant à la manière d'artisans, tâtant, cherchant, laissant l'inspiration s'emparer de leur instrument pour leur suggérer les routes à suivre vers la découverte de leurs propres oeuvres, affirmant tous deux qu'ils aiment se laisser eux-même surprendre par ce qu'ils créent, c'est dans cette perspective que verra le jour en fin d'année 2010 leur premier album, recueil electro-expérimental planant, touchant, empreint d'une franche sensibilité et d'un accent folk subtil et convivial.
