Yvan Esquerre commence à étudier la guitare et le chant en 1995. En mélomane averti et amoureux de Jazz depuis l’adolescence , il passe en revue les disques (33tours) des labels Jazz Américains comme Blue note, Verve, Epic, Pablo,Riverside...
Le jeune chanteur et guitariste se découvre une véritable passion pour la musique des grands jazzmen comme, Charlie Parker,Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Mingus, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Miles Davis, Chet Baker… mais aussi un engouement pour les autres styles musicaux (rock, pop,chansons à textes) , et bien sûr les grands maîtres de la musique classique, Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Chopin...
Yvan Esquerre entretient aussi une relation privilégiée avec une des musiques qui aura marqué le XXe siècle, la bossa nova. Avec sa formation YES JAZZ BAND, le chanteur interprète les grands thèmes de Jobim, Baden Powell. La poésie à toute sa place dans son univers et influence ses choix musicaux, les œuvres de Rimbaud, Verlaine, Baudelaire, Aragon, Paul Eluard, Jacques Prévert...
Une partie du répertoire du jeune chanteur intègre des thèmes de la chanson Française: Léo Ferré, Boris Vian, Barbara, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg,Claude Nougaro et surtout Georges Brassens dont il étudiera l’œuvre plus particulièrement.
En 1996, Yvan Esquerre s’installe dans le Languedoc-Roussillon et rencontre le guitariste Daniel Levanvo avec qui il prend des cours de guitare. - Dés 1998, il commence à se produire en formation duo ou trio. Il interprète des chansons Françaises, Claude Nougaro, Henri Salvador, George Brassens, mais aussi des standards de jazz Américain...
Il rencontre le guitariste et directeur artistiques du festival de jazz à Sète Louis Martinez, avec lequel il suivra des cours d’harmonie et de guitare jazz pendant trois ans, au conservatoire de Sète.
En 2006, il poursuit ses études de musique et d’harmonie avec le guitariste Thomas Fontvieille, qui depuis devient un de ses complices de scène. Les deux musiciens se retrouvent régulièrement en duo, en trio ou en quartet.
En décembre 2007, il s’installe à Montpellier et réunit pour une session d’enregistrement les musiciens Vittorio Silvestri (leader du groupe Tri-X ), Emmanuel Beer et Stéphane Beuvelet ( Organik Trio), Bertrand Ray ( Ginkobiloba ), Jérôme Dufour (Koa collectif), Thomas Oliva(Aube session swing)…
Cette séance aura pour thème les grands standards du jazz Américain, arrangés par le chanteur et le guitariste Vittorio Silvestri. Une belle complicité tant humaine qu’artistique lie les deux musiciens.
Yvan Esquerre se produit régulièrement dans les jazz clubs de la région et dans toute la France. Actuellement ,il travaille sur des arrangements de chansons Françaises en vu d’un futur enregistrement.

The young singer and the guitarist confides a real passion for the music of the big jazzmen in the ranks of which, Charlie Parker, Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Mingus, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Miles Davis, Chet Baker but also a craze for the other musical styles (rock, pop songs
to texts), and naturally the great classic masters, Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Chopin...
Yvan Esquerre maintains a privileged relation with one of the musics which will have marked the XXth century, the bossa nova. With his YES jazz BAND formation, the singer interprets the big themes of Jobim, Baden Powell. The poetry has its place in his universe and influence his musical choices like Rimbaud, Verlaine, Baudelaire, Aragon, Paul Eluard, Jacques Prévert 's works.
A part of the young singer's songbook contains some of the most charming French songs from: Léo Ferré, Boris Vian, Barbara, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, Claude Nougaro and especially Georges Brassens songs of which he particulary will study more.
In 1996, Yvan Esquerre established in Languedoc-Roussillon and met the guitarist Daniel Levanvo with whom he get guitar lessons.
Then in 1998, he begins to perform in duet or trio formation. He interprets French songs, Claude Nougaro, Henri Salvador, George Brassens, but also jazz standards...He meets the guitarist and the art director of the jazz festival in Sète Louis Martinez, with whom he will follow harmony and guitar jazz lessons during three years, at the academy of Sète.
In 2006, he pursues his music and harmony studies with the guitarist Thomas Fontvieille, whom since that time became one of his stage partner. Both musicians are meeting themselves regularly in duet, in trio or in quartet.
Among his other scene partners, the guitarist singer likes meeting on stage or to work with the pianists organists Emmanuel Beer and Rachid Guissous ,the drummers Stéphane Beuvelet and Arnaud Lemeur, the saxophonists Jérôme Dufour and Pierre Leydier, the bass players Frédéric Léger and Bertrand Ray, and also the guitarists Claudio Dellacorte or Thomas Oliva.
In December, 2007, he settles down at Montpelier and brings together for a recording cessions the musicians Vittorio Silvestri (leader of the group Tri-X), Emmanuel Beer and Stéphane Beuvelet ( Organik Trio), Bertrand Ray ( Ginkobiloba), Jérôme Dufour ( collective Koa), Thomas Oliva (the Aube session swing) …
During the cessions jazz standards were recorded .The singer and the guitarist Vittorio Silvestri worked together on the arrangements. A beautiful complicity as human than artistic connects both musicians...Yvan Esquerre performs regularly in Jazz clubs all over France, and especially in the Languedoc Roussillon Region. Right now he works on French songs arrangements for the next recording.
