About Me

I'm a maker by nature. I have to create things, and I really don't know why. I just know that if I go too long without making something, I get spiritually constipated. It's not a pretty sight. I've always been obsessed with knives and swords, so that's what I make the most of. http://www.OzBlades.com/ for some examples. Yes, I need to update. Who doesn't? I'm into dozens of obscure interests. Basically, if it's geeky, I have at least a passing knowledge of it, if not in-depth. Once after an encounter with a group of half a dozen geeks that ended up on their knees saying "We're not worthy!" to me, my wife said "I knew that I married a geek. I didn't realize that I married their king." It was an interesting night. My kids rock. They're going to grow up to be either pop stars or jedi. We'll see. Lately, I've gotten into standup comedy. I read a book on comedy, so now I think I'm funny. I've spent the last year or so writing material and working on a comedic style for myself, and have enough of an act together to think about hitting some amateur nights. So I call up the only comedy club for 100 miles and ask them when theirs is, and I get "Oh no, we don't have that... No, nothing like that!". I had wondered why no comics came out of Jacksonville... Update: I figured out my comedic style. Noir.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Odin and Loki, preferably in the same room. A few dozen different bladesmiths and comedians. It's a constantly growing list.

My Blog

Open mike nights.

I've been hitting the open mike night at 5 points coffee and spice recently.  http://www.myspace.com/5pointscoffee I'm doing my 5th tonight, probably around nine again.  I still need more practice, bo...

Never thought I'd geek out over Star Trek.

Mostly avoiding spoilers.    I'm not a trekkie.  Sure, I have three bat'leths, but it's my uncle that speaks Klingon,  (and elven.  I've only ever managed Esperanto), not me.  I'm a Star Wars guy, thr...

My first open mic night.

Just got home from doing my first open mic night.  My first time doing comedy for more than 5 people, really.      How did it go?  Not sure yet.  I recorded it, but I'm not going to review that re...

Had a good day, so I think I'll blog about it.

Ok, this was going to be a very witty, somewhat dry and ascerbic take on a boring blog subject.  It was going to have a taste of thesis format, with extremes of boredom and wit for comparisons so ...

Flame bait.

I know full well that I am capable of pissing people off on a grandiose scale.  I say, rather often without meaning to, extremely inflammatory things.  I don't mean things like...

TMT

I got to go to an SCA event this weekend.  In short, it rocked.  I got to speak with two masters of arts that I pursue, horn carving and blacksmithing.  I got to see many ...

Catsup reminds me that life is to be LIVED.

I know it confuses people on a regular basis, but I make my own catsup.  And yes, I spell it 'catsup' and not 'ketchup'.  If you don't like it then you can go get loved on by a...

I am a Lincoln log in a Lego world.

Last week, I couldn't help but notice that there was a steamshovel next door.  They were working on the overgrown retention pond that my and my neighbors yards all border on, a...

I made a knife.

I know some people are saying "So fucking what?  You're a knifemaker, it's what you do!"  Well, these days I'm a relay operator and other such menial things, but I do like...

Dying is easy, comedy is impossible in Jacksonville.

Most of the people I talk to on a regular basis already know about this little bitch of mine, but since that entails like, three people, I figured I'd whine about it here. I've been working on a comed...
