My family, music, and the outdoors.... they keep me going.
As my son gets older, the more fun he is to hang around with. Fortunately we share similar interests so we fish, hike, camp etc together. Two of the proudest moments were taking him to see his first concert at the legendary Toad's Place (GWAR) and taking him to see Cheap Trick at an outdoor festival in NJ where he got in the front row and was psyched to get a pick from Rick Nielson.
Music...well, I'm into probably 90% of what's out there. Punk, rockabilly, swing, old country, zydeco, crooners... it's all good! I'll travel to see bands and the farthest I've gone was to San Diego to see The Cramps. Well worth the trip!
The outdoors... I love to hike and camp with or without our Scout Troop but my biggest passion is surf fishing. I'll spend half a week of sleepless nights on the Vineyard in early June with a group of hardcore surfrats who, like me, think nothing of living on coffee or espresso to stay awake so we don't miss that blitz in the deep dark hours of the night. I also love spending weekends living out of my Jeep on the Cape. I've never done that well fishing on the Cape but it's always more than just the fishing, it's the experience! Read on to try to get a glimpse of why I am so passionate about the surf.....
Surfcasting for striped bass is an experience rich in emotions, special places and unique people. Depending upon how well you know one of them, surfcasters are a special breed of fishermen; sometimes hard to get to know, seemingly half crazy in their quest, exceptionally dedicated and extremely clannish. They face special challenges, but also reap memorable rewards that most mere mortals never get to see, feel or brag about. The entire experience of surfcasting is one to be nurished and cherished for many years, and passed on to the next generation. Toss into the mix a combination of loyal friendships, solitude, a spell-binding ocean, a small army of unforgetable characters, and an absolutely amazing gamefish and you have all the ingredients for an incredible lifelong fishing journey.

Now I'll give my plug to the BSA... if anyone has young sons, get them involved in Scouting! I was never a Scout myself but have truely enjoyed being involved with my son's Troop. I can see what Scouting has done for my son and it's all positive!!! From community service, to wilderness skills, to leadership skills, it's all covered in Scouting.
