“When I sing, I want to make people feel something they never felt before. Whether the song is a club banger or a ballad, I want to inspire people with my music. I’m not concerned about the next artist because at the end of the day, when you hear my music you’ll know it’s me. It’s not about being the best singer in the world, It’s about finding your own style and making it appeal to everyone around the world; an” Singer/song writer Armahn born Armahn Tio Ashley is the young and upcoming R&B sensation. Born August 18, 1992 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Armahn has been a very fortunate individual. Blessed with irreplaceable talent combined with never ending sprit and energy, it was simple for Armahn to understand and utilize his natural abilities. Armahn has done several performances for the Boaz Lodge Annual Gospel Extravaganza, and has had invites from numerous churches for special annual events. Influenced by artists such as Usher, Chris brown, Mario, Lil Wayne, Beyonce, and T.I, Armahn is ready to share his talent with the world. “I never felt so alive when I grabbed the mic for the first time. I felt for the first time in my life that I was in control. I controlled the audience. And when I was done the audience gave me a standing ovation and from there on I knew this was for me, and I was determined to make it” (Quote from his first performance on April 27, 2004 for the Boaz Lodge Annual Gospel Extravaganza) Playing the role of a sponge, Armahn took in all the information that he possibly could in the following his first performance. “I took in everything I could. I wanted to know everything there was to know about this business. It’s a good look! But I also knew that if I was going to want to make a name for myself and be known I would have to be vulnerable to this industry”. Because of a lack of resources due to his age, Armahn learned quickly how to become self sufficient. He learned how to naturally sing from his diaphragm, breathe to enhance voice range, write and produce his own songs, and most importantly take constructive criticism. “ “I used to hate hearing people tell me how to sing one of my own songs or how to do this part or that part of a song. I would get mad and not even want to sing the song or complete one of my own songs. But I learned that opinions and ideas are everything in this business. Because the people that give ideas and opinions are the people that have an ear and can hear things that other people can’t, and in my eyes that brings success” Once Armahn mentally prepared himself and got into the mind frame of an artist, he was ready to commit himself fully to his project and career. By educating himself on the industry the best way he could, Armahn was ready to take on the most important component of his project which was the creation of his music and style. He knew that this was not an easy task either “ I had a lot of trouble thinking of ways to separate myself from other artists. I knew my voice was a very big part in creating my sound because unlike some male R&B artists today, I feel that I can really sing. It was still hard because the musical trends that various artists set during different time periods were in style and in demand. I mean, everywhere I would go I would hear the type of sound an artist created, and I felt at the time I couldn’t go into making songs that were so different that people wouldn’t show interest and would not be able to understand the concept of the songs” But that didn’t stop him. Equipped with his laptop computer, a microphone, and Sony Acid, Armahn began recording songs in his bedroom and the rest was history. One day by surprise, Armahn’s brother Eugene contacted there older cousin Pierce who just so happened to be the founder of Vega Entertainment an entertainment company that represented several popular artists in their area. Eugene explained to Pierce how talented his younger brother was and that Pierce should look into his music and furthermore represent him. It was difficult for Pierce to take the situation seriously initially because of Armahn’s age and his laid back, carefree attitude. It took some time, but Pierce finally made it out to Armahn to hear his music and upon hearing the first couple of minutes he was convinced. “As soon as I turned the song on his reaction was like “wow” I remember him saying that he didn’t expect me sound like that, and he kept saying “that’s so crazy”” After listening to the song, they started discussing what was required of Armahn to become an artist and at the end of the day, Arhman knew he was getting ready to take it to the next level. March 6, 2008 was the beginning of an era, when Armahn opened the door and walked into I.D. Labs for the first to time record his first single “I wanna” “It was one of the best experiences I ever had! I loved it! I couldn’t get over the fact that I was doing what could possibly be my job for the rest of my life, and that just made me want that type of lifestyle and the success even more!” Ever since then, Armahn backed by Vega Entertainment has been working very diligently to develop and shape the protégé into the next international superstar.
