Grandfather Mountain was a two piece instrumental band (drums,guitar) formed by Byron McDonald and Josh Pratt formerly of Charlotte NC's Spite. After years of touring with Spite the two took separate ways and traveled and moved. They started up again in San Francisco, CA with a new outlook and musical mission. Loud, heavy, stripped down with plenty of room for spontaneity. The versatility that the two piece set up allows combined with a musical relationship developed over years gave Grandfather Mountain an unpredictable and sometimes outright ridiculous approach to heavy music. We lost Byron in October of 2007 and feel both his absence and his presence every day. we miss ya' brother!
