About Me
George Pemberton and Clint Janish got together as youngsters back at the ranch in Pottsville, Tx. around 1998. They would jam out in the barn all night and have the coyotes howling and the goats naying and the cattle a bellering. But they didn’t stop !!! Comanche Saloon Comanche, Tx. was one of their first real dance hall gigs. George played acoustic lead and lead singer, Clint played the drums and didn’t know he could sing. They found a Bass player from the area and had a 3 peice show. George knew enough words to the songs to keep’em dancing for a full 4 hr. show. After Clint discovered he could sing and was a hell of a song writter, Southern Underground then became George & Clint ( lead acoustic guitars and vocals ),
Russell Prather ( drums ) and the Lovely Sandy Royal ( Fiddle )
George moved to Buchanan Dam at 16 yrs. old and asked around for some musician friends, he met, Duck Harris which became ( Lead Guitar )
Mike Wagers ( bass ) Richard Gass became ( Drums ) and he had him a full peice band with not only just a few friend musicians from the area but some of the finist hidden musician artist around. They had played around filling in for differant bands , but none of them knew each other. George had jammed with each of them one on one at times but none of them had all met and jammed together. George just kind of peiced it together untill he found himself some musicians that could relate to the sound he wanted George would call Clint , Sandy and Russell to come in on the bigger gigs, like Blanco County Line, The Ranch, Marty McFly’s, Twin Sisters Saloon, The Iron Horse. Russell Prather had moved east of Dallas with his family and was farther for him to be able to commit, but he continues to run sound, set up stage and record from time to time. Their first recording was "Back To The Good Times" That was George, Clint, Russel, Sandy & Duck. We had a few substitues on the singing back up vocals, drums and a steel guitar, which was Mike Blakley, John Aurther Martinez, on a few songs. For awhile we also had Derrik Wayne ( what a great lead blues player ) maybe he will come sit back in on a few shows too. Sandy Royal which is now Sandy Parrish married to Greg Parrish ( in which you may have caught him on stage from time to time singing) and way they have a new baby boy and knowing that bar room fiddle playing and being a mommy doesn’t go hand and hand , but hopefully someday she will be able to set in on some shows from time to time. This group of musicians have a past together and a long time future !!! If they don’t ever make it to the real big times, one things for sure they all have a big time friendship, and they can jam on that forever !!!
