Lots of interests but my main distractions (besides being a "part time single dad") are music, soccer, and skimboarding. Probably in that order. As for the bigger picture... trying to find and maintain that balance of mind/body/spirit while being respectful of others making their own way thru the world. Keeping fit/respecting my body (yoga, diet, etc... who knows when we will lose what we have, right?) and appreciating what is good in life. One world/one heart/one blood... everyone on earth is a cousin, we should treat each other as family, is the ideal we hopefully work towards? I also very much enjoy intelligent/interesting convo re: politics... religion/spirituality... sex... drugs... rock and roll... all that fun stuff... and words are all good, yeah... but gotta admit, I usually base my opinions on (and react to) actions. Words may show intent and thought (which is a big part of the picture) but actions are manifest/reality.
Anyone with a brain and a pulse.
er.. Not Sure.Varies according to mood/time of day/sunspots. Mostly into harder edged rawk, but also ska/reggae, some jazz, some punk, and some electronica i.e. trance, etc.In no particular order, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Led Zep, Maiden, Sublime, Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, The Burden Brothers, Incubus, The Specials, Fishbone... some older/defunct local acts like The Suspects, Middlefinger, etc. and now into anything from DJ Sun (trance/deep house), to The Mighty Orq (blues based rock), to Studemont Project (underground hip hop). Probably left a few important bands/influences out, oh well. Satin Hooks, DJ Sun, Studemont Project, House of Moist, DuneTX and many other AWESOME local and nat'l indie acts are in my friends list - check 'em out and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SCENE!!!Oh and venues need support too... anywhere there's a stage or turntables, I'm likely to be have been there at one time or another. Some of my favorite events/venues would be the monthly Rent parties, weekly Mondays at The Flat, warehouse parties off Congress, and Houston standby's such as Dan Electro's, Rudyard's, The Proletariat, Last Concert Cafe, Cosmo's, The Meridian and/or Fitzgerald's (hosting local/regional/national "rock" acts of various sorts) - I haven't been to that new Wharehouse Live as of yet, but I've heard good things about it.Oh, and I pretend to be a musician... but I have no talent... guess what instrument I play? Prizes to the first 10 correct answers, must be present to win, no purchase necessary.
Not Sure. OK, that's because the only movies I generally go watch are the ones I take my kids to.Gimme crazy stuff like Buckaroo Bonzai or Johnny Dangerously or Monty Python... simple minds, simple pleasures. They don't make pix like that any more, do they? Midnight double feature picture show, anyone? Then again... for a mind-f*ck, ya'll try Erasurehead... bet u have nightmares...
Not... much. Sports, news (depressing, so avoid local junk) and weather. That's it.
Tao Te Ching (Book of Tao)Anything by Hunter S. Thompson... the grand master of gonzo. When I was a kid I used to read a lot of Asimov, Farmer, and other Sci-Fi... also got into Nero Wolfe... but then as a teenager I was told it's uncool to read, so I quit.Seriously, I don't make the time to read, unfortunately.
