Imagine a blanket made of different coloured threads. If you hold the blanket up close, you can see the individual colours, but if you look from further away, a beautiful new colour emerges; a glorious hue that has never before been seen. This is like the unique and unforgettable sound of Dear April.
Drawing from diverse musical influences, Brisbane based alternative rock trio Dear April are ready to sew their slightly progressive, memorable musical threads into the minds of listeners once again with their second EP, ‘Look.Listen.Begin’. Having released their debut, self titled EP only twelve months ago, the band has kept themselves busy refining their stagecraft through touring and performing at prominent Brisbane venues, with acts such as The Hungry Kids of Hungary and Diana Anaid. Dear April has also notched up commercial and community radio airplay (96.5 Brisbane, 4ZzZ, ABC Capricornia) and has been well within the top 10 for all songs in their respective genres on Triple J Unearthed.
Once a product of the musical ambitions of soloist Dan Acfield, Dear April became the new title of the “Dan Acfield Band†in 2008 to symbolise an increasing collaboration within the group. Due to be released in September 2009, ‘Look.Listen.Begin’, provides a matured musical narrative of the band’s departure from its solo roots, with a rockier and more epic sound that conveys a very tasteful and original compromise between each member. With ‘Look.Listen.Begin’ to be released at The Zoo in Brisbane on Friday, September 11, followed by touring, if Dear April are like a beautifully coloured blanket, surely their colours are only getting brighter!
