STREPANOVA

About Me

OK... Maybe we loved The Velvet Underground too much. But remember, that’s a good thing. The idea was simple. Let the chiming sound of a 12 string Rickenbacker interact with the haunting sound of a viola and see what happens. Nashville’s STREPANOVA (1992-94) was formed when JET BLACK FACTORY’S drummer Jim Dye & FAITH LIKE GUILLOTINE’S Joe Montgomery met WORD UPRISING’S Fred Greene & Bill McLaurine. Wayne Mehl added viola and engineered all recordings. STREPANOVA in all charted 4 Top 5 songs on the local music countdown on Vanderbilt’s 91 Rock. "Winter Kills" & The Velvet’s cover "I’ll Be Your Mirror" were the first 2 songs to garner airplay. The next recording session produced the local hits "Pushed" & "St. Jim". BMc.
