About Me

La Mer Ensembles, established more than 20 years ago, is one of the leading string ensembles of the tri-state area. Members David Dusylovitch and Amy Ingram Bergh, violinists; James Day, violist; and Mayumi Grasso, cellist, all hold music performance degrees from some of the country’s finest music institutions such as Peabody Conservatory, Shenandoah Conservatory, University of Arts (Philadelphia), and SUNY Stony Brook studying with prestigious faculty including Samuel Applebaum, Daniel Heifetz, Ulrich Boeckheler, and Francis Tursi.Individually they have performed on such stages as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, on board the QE II and have performed throughout Europe, Asia, Canada, and parts of the Middle East. The members have played backup to the likes of Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Hillary Hahn, Ray Charles, and Marvin Hamlisch. Currently as freelancers, they perform with Tim Gillis Band, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Princeton Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Peter-by-the-Sea, Riverside Symphonia, Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra, and the Southampton Chamber Music Society.La Mer is the perfect ensemble for weddings, receptions, parties, as well as large audiences. We look forward to personalizing your special occasion performing various styles of music and will be happy to work with you for special musical arrangements.
