About Me
CHAPTER 1:
So it all started out in a 15 by 10 room with barely any fresh air, when guitarist Donald(now with Ampliphias) and old drummer Andrew began writing songs that would eventually become the foundation of Zeemer. When Andrew's shoddy PSAT scores came in and he coughed up $400 dollars to go to some SAT prep class, he ran into bassist Chaz(now bassist for Ampliphias). Seizing the opportunity, they kidnapped and coerced him into playing bass for them at their very first gig at the Pearl City Project Grad Fundraiser also known as McNight.
CHAPTER 2:
Although the gig went well, the formula wasn't working, it was still missing something. Chaz knew instantly what they needed and vouched for George Bugarin, a good friend and former guitarist in his previous band. From then on Zeemer was born!
CHAPTER 3:
But as time went on and everybody had things to do, slowly by slowly, Chaz knew that the band was on the verge of collapsing. Sure enough one summer day after practice founding guitarist Don quit the band out of personal differences. Chaz meanwhile went through a phase of his own. He needed to get back to his own life.
CHAPTER 4:
Chaz took to the winds and called up friend Jared inquiring him to be the new drummer after promising him a while back that they would jam. But Jared turned down the offer to pursue his own path and recommended close friend John James. Sure enough, John joined shortly after being contacted. Now there was the problem of getting a new guitarist. There was no one he could really think of. Then one day, classmate Brenden Takai posted up some of his own works on his blog and newly made site, and Chaz remembered a time when Brenden had turned him down after offering to replace 2nd guitarist Kendel in the former makeshift band alongside George and drummer Nathan. But this time was different. Brenden instantly took up the offer and brought the band back to its feet.
CHAPTER 5:
The new band got together finally in the middle of July and things pulled itself together. The raw talent and character of each member added a depth to the band none of them had ever experienced in any other. It was then that Zeemer was reborn once again. All of the old guitarist's material was trashed. Only George's Moonlit Stanza song remained in the set list. So new guitarist Brenden worked 2 weeks with bassist Chaz to write a whole new set list consisting of a broad range of styles developed from jazz, alternative, post hardcore, and rock influences.
CHAPTER 6:
Unfortunately later on John was released from the band for personal differences. Then after months of searching, his replacement was finally found. Chaz brought in childhood friend Ian Kuwazaki, a former MoHS percussionist, UH cymbal player, and all around cool guy. He's now sporting the drum set the original Drummer and co-founder of the band Andy once used. Much thanks broseph. Then soon after the final member was found. Now full time keyboardist/moog synth player/guitarist/vocalist is Josh.
CHAPTER 7:
The band quickly took to the new music and had now almost nearly completed it's set list of 6 songs. The band looked as if they were on a steady track to greatness. However, one summer Chaz had stumbled over an obstacle in his own life and decided that Zeemer was not for him anymore. So he left the band pursuing his own ambitions and goals. The band was now bassist-less and was now struggling to keep things going. And with keyboardist, Josh, about to leave to Alaska for school, it made matters more desperate.
CHAPTER 8:
After Chaz(now in Ampliphias) and Josh left, Ian and George started jamming and started pumping out new material that would be recycled for later. Brendan was caught up with work and summer school so he could hardly come to practices. However, after summer school the band quickly picked itself up again by adding present bassist Chung Min Oh. The style in the music was now facing a new direction, going from soft and indie, the band now came to play hardcore and screamo. Things were looking back up for the new Zeemer.
CHAPTER 9:
So after learning a few covers, they composed a few songs: Lacuna Tides, There’s No Safety In Seatbelts, and Oxygen. And with George filling in as lead vocalist for a few shows, he quickly became tired and upset with the fact that he had to sing and play guitar, which was something he did not want to do. Suddenly, the band took another twist, but this time, no one was leaving the band, but another member was to join!
CHAPTER 10:
A friend of George (then Girlfriend, Now Cool Person), Rachel Spain was interested in what he had been doing and enjoyed the kind of music his band now played, so she hopped on the boat and became the lead scream/vocals of the band. With a lot of reassurance and practice, the band was ready for its first show together. With shows like the Fisher show w/Arkeo and opportunities they played at other venues, the band began to mesh and become more productive. And although at times the band was caught in drama, the band believed there was a greater purpose for them being together and decided to make a commitment and give back to everybody that believed in them and more. Giving you the new, Zeemer.
