Originally a punk rock duo in much the fashion of Philadelphia’s very own Flys, The Warm Jets consisted of two young musicians eager to play and be heard. (E.Gadz on electric guitar; Hugo Crust on acoustic guitar and vocals). In the summer of ’78, with the help of Lee and Roid, along with their now sounds program as WXPN radio station, the duo sent in a tape of a song called "I Love It". Although a crude recording, (allegedly manufactured in Mr. Crust’s bedroom), the song received much support and atone point reached 6 on "The Now Sounds Top Ten", proving that there was indeed an audience for this type of minimalistic music. After the initial success, Crust and Gadz went through some terrible times. Remaining underground, neighbors complained and relatives avoided them. They turned their time toward more constructive ideas (for instance, hanging around 30th St Station, a favourite place for Mr.Crust). The pinnacle of disaster was finally realized when Cologne Leisure, spritual advisor, friend and main influence on the two boys, passed on. Unsure of the future, the pair enrolled in a six week course in mind freedom. This along with talkswith the parish priest, has brought them back with new energy that no drug could provide. An important decision was made in recruiting unknowns into the band. The new lineup gives The Warm Jets quite a squad.
