PM DAWN featuring DOC G
Since the unfortunate sickness of Prince B, Doc G has decided to keep the fans happy by touring and singing the PM Dawn hits as well as his solo projects.
Born and raised in the beach 40 projects of Far Rockaway Queens in New York, Doc G has been entertaining fans all around the world for more than 15 years. As half the duo of P.M. Dawn, Doc G will resurrect the bliss. With fresh new music from an all new solo album (THE PURR-SCRIPT-SHUN) and a P.M. Dawn live album ready to roll out, there is no stopping the Doc of the Dawn.
At the young age of five, Doc developed a passion for emulating other hip hop artists. He became a local celebrity performing music by legendary hip hop artists that included Run DMC, Sugar Hill Gang, and LL Cool J, just to name a few. As a teenager, Doc G would learn the art of freestyle and combine this newfound skill into his very entertaining and comical performances. His family would prove to be active in the music world as DJ’s and hip hop artists. Two of Doc’s cousins came together to form the highly successful group P.M. Dawn. In the early days of P.M. Dawn, Doc G was called upon to serve in the U.S. Navy.
While Doc G was in the Navy, P.M. Dawn would reach world-wide success with “Set a drift on memory bliss.†After receiving a postcard from his mother about an attack on Prince Be from KRS One and Boogie Down Productions, he would reunite with his cousin and then joined the crew as the hype man (forfeiting his G.I. Bill).
After a brief hiatus, Doc G would reform P.m. Dawn with his cousin, Prince Be. In June 2005 NBC approached the group to perform on their show “Hit Me Baby One More Time†in which artists would compete for a cash prize donated to the winner’s charity of choice. Despite Prince Be's suffering a massive stroke earlier in the year the show would prove to be of great success for P.M. Dawn as they won the prize and donated it to juvenile diabetes research. The newfound success rejuvenated Prince Be to once again record new music and perform.
Alongside his cousin, Doc G performed all across the country. Doc G added a new level of energy to the P.M. Dawn experience. Over the next few years, the group would perform all over the world. During this time the group was approached by Sony Music to record a greatest hits live album which is now available in retail and online stores. They also ranked number 81 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs countdown. Today's live show is a mix of classic and new music as well as new music by Doc G off his forth-coming solo album. In 2008, P.m. Dawn would be hit with adversity yet again due to the ailing health of Prince Be. Despite the adversite, Doc G, now a married man and proud new father, has decided to keep the fans happy be performing classic P.m. Dawn hits along with his solo tracks.
All of that experience and now behind him, Doc G is dedicated to creating a “blisstatic†hip hop experience for all fans of music. Doc G truly comes into his own as an entertainer and is still able to create blissed out music that stays true to his bloodline. Music lovers of all genres will not want to miss the chance to get their hands on his new music and attend a live performance. His hilarious disposition will put anyone at ease. Always the black Cal Ripken, there is always time for autographs and photos with fans; Doc even answers his own emails on the P.M. Dawn/Doc G websites, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter pages. Welcome Doc G back to world of music as a solo artist and get ready...the bliss is about to get maintained all over again!!!!!!
