About Me

I AM A GUITARIST,WRITER,PRODUCER,MIXER ,I HAVE WORKED WITH JIM STEINMAN ,MEAT LOAF AND BONNIE TYLER ..Mattias Reim, Jeff Bova, Mickey Curry[bryan adams] Hugh Mc Donald,[Bon Jovi] Nazareth, Budgie, Dave Palmer[ Rod Stewart] and lots more !........................................................... ............................................................ .....I started off with my brother who tricked me into buying a Winfield guitar so that we could start a band up together called ‘Emerson’ we were part of the NWOBHM scene in the 80s.
We had a single out called something special and tracks on various compilation albums over the years, we attempted to be an English version of Journey .we played many support slots with various rock bands like budgie ,heavy petting, air race, robin george, Nazareth etc but to cut a long story short that all went pear shaped around 82 .
I then met a singer called Lorraine Crosby and we started working on music together .We did all the usual demo’s ,cheap videos ,anything we could to showcase ourselves .We found management with Handle management who then had Fleetwood mac and van halen for Europe amongst others and we worked with status quos producer Pip williams until that deal went ran its course and we met a man called Dan Priest who now owns Parkgate studios in hastings . He put us in touch with Jim Steinman who heard our demos and flew us out to New York to meet and talk about jim and 2 other guys don and danny becoming our new management team ,which they did ! We then decided to sell up and move out to New York to be closer to them for meetings .We did some demo’s in the famous Power station studios .which was nice! Jim started working on bat out of hell 2 and took the project over to los angeles ocean way studios ,so we went with him and met up with meat loaf and his band in oceanway where Lorraine by then aka ‘mrs loud’was asked to sing the female part on a duet called ‘’I would do anything for love ,but I won’t do that’’ so that meat loaf could get a better idea of how the song was shaping up. There was talk of Cher, Bonnie tyler, Melissa etheridge and others who were up for the part in the duet ,but after listening to Lorraines vocal for six months jim and meatloaf decided her voice was right and decided to go with it.She ended up being credited as Mrs Loud on the album and did not appear in the video , model Dana Patrick lip synced to lorraines voice . One of the things jim liked about us was our harmony work and so he asked us to do backing vocals on 3 other songs .Life is a lemon and I want my money back, we did copious amounts of backing vocals on all the way through from the def leppard style HUH HEY and the low Russian army following the guitar line in the bridge to the life is a lemon answer backs at the end and everything in between ,that song also had the nelson brothers on it.Objects in the rear view mirror and everything louder than everything else were the other two songs we sang on , you can kind of hear me singing along with meat on ‘just another case of arrested development’ line after ‘they got a file on me and it’s a mile long’part. We signed a deal with MCA in America and went back to New York to work with the late great Bernard Edwards as the producer on our album . We got about half way through recording when bat 2 went way over budget and the two a&r men who were responsible for bat 2 and who also signed us, got fired! We were then dropped from MCA records and ran out of money so had to return home to England . When we came back Anything for love was number1 all over the world and we were flat broke . Jim Steinman sent a tape of our songs to Bonnie Tyler who was looking for songs at the time and Jim suggested that I produce Bonnie also , we ended up recording 3 songs with her. We had a lot of fun with Bonnie and her husband Robert and toured with her as backing singers/acoustic guitars, for a short while in germany. After that lorraine had management with sanctuary in London Bonnie came and stayed with us for a couple of weeks and we recorded 18 songs as demos with her ,a few of them made it onto her later albums and Lorraine and Bonnie sang a duet together that I penned called Stand by you.Which is basically about the time when Lorraine and Bonnie first met because they got on so well and were very alike. I am at present mixing our ‘Mrs Loud’ album which will be available soon then I’m looking foreward to working with other bands /artists ,writing, producing and mixing in the future. Thanks for looking, stu
