About Me

When Midwestern power pop kingpin Darren Robbins, whose past indie efforts have sold a combined 50,000 copies, returned to Chicago after a decade in L.A., he arrived with the intent of rebuilding Time Bomb Symphony from scratch.
He had a list with three names on it; Sweet Lou from Chicago stalwarts Penthouse Sweets, Mike Zelenko (ex-Material Issue drummer), and Ted Ansani (former Material Issue bassist). That all three said yes wasn't so much a surprise as confimation that, above all else, the songs were strong enough to warrant such interest. "I didn't want to put together a band with anyone else, so if any of them would have declined, I might have just called the whole thing off."
From the moment the band hit the stage at Chicago's legendary Double Door for their first gig, the new outfit knew they'd hit upon something special. Those in attendance knew it as well and word has been building on the Chicago scene with each subsequent show.
The band plans to spend the fall and winter playing anywhere and everywhere that will have them while, at the same time, working on new material for an early 2009 release. The album, tentatively entitled "Symphonic Majesties Request", will feature a number of Robbins-penned tracks, including "Blue Flowers", which has already gotten airplay on Chicago radio station WLUW.
Chicago has a new supergroup and its name is Time Bomb Symphony.
